It sucks that the permit was canceled just two weeks before the festival. I don't know any of the facts of the case but if it was a deliberate attempt by the government to cause the organizers to lose money by giving them insufficient notice, then they should consult an attorney about suing for damages.
Also, next year perhaps they should consider paying for event insurance that could cover government intervention like this. For a festival of this size, you should insure against weather, injury liability, etc.

Huge shit! This zuks majortime :/ ...this was _the_ event this summer and the best one musicwise last year!
..same happened in russia on Rainbow Summoning... the same day the festival was supposed to start, they got the same message...
For sure, im all in on protectiong wildlife, but this smells more like politics and sour sox if you ask me..

Sad to hear this, i had know idea :S
Besides that +1 on the bird issue, especially when thinking about the fact that this bird is "not even" endangered and is actually considered quite common...
(One reason however could be that the bird is rare guest in Germany, which also makes perfect sense, as being a large Eastern European bird of prey, it naturally lives east of Germany.)
Well... Good luck to the stranded, we all feel sorry !

ha ha that bird is stamped "LC" = Least Concerned by The International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUCN), wich actually refers to it not being worth any notice... (As such they do not qualify as threatened, nor Near Threatened)
so really... this smells like beuacracy at its best!
