Hey there. I'm a newbie in the world of production, and i'm sure there's a hell load of others like me.. I've been tweaking around with FL Studio and my midi controller for a while now and cant really get the right sounds that most of you pros there manage to get.. So, coming down to the point, can any of you users of FL studio (or Cubase for that matter) upload any of your old project files for us noobs to look and learn? . It is afterall a matter of generosity now isn't it? |

no disrespect, but i remember being a newbie yrs ago, and i never asked any artists for their files,
and i turned out fine. theres more to it, the best way to learn like others is to just use ur ears,
i know i might sound like a fucker but with all honesty it is like give him a fish and a man eats for the day teach him how to fish and he'll eat forever, same principle, you got plenty of topics here to help u start now get started, heck even after 8 yrs producing im still learning alot, so go out learn on ur own and come get more polished in here...
send me ur email, and i'll send u some cool midi's this week but also do what i told you cus im telling u the truth as like u were my brother, best regards

@ Psyaudiodynamics - I appreciate that buddy. But the reason why i said "old" project files is to simply compare how the ones at the top now were faring then compared to us. Of course, there's a hellova lot of information here that us noobs can use, but the fact remains that our learning process will speeden up if we understand the different parameters that need to me automated to get the right swooshes and stuff like that. It's not like we'll just modify the project files and post it as our own now is it? It's as good as learning from someone by observing how he works. And lets face it, now matter who the producer, he sure as hell hasn't learnt everything by himself now has he? At least in the beginning, i'm sure he observed other people working on projects and stuff like that.. I dont know too many people who'r into this field where i come from. Hell, most of the so called pro DJ's in this country cant even produce for nuts. Leaving the psy scene apart that is. . Thanks anyway. You spoke what you believed in..
@ Vegetal - What do you use to sequence?

well, sheil
good to see a motivated newbie
i for starts started off by myslef, i worked at a library and i ran into keyboard magazine's, it was the first time that i saw a synth, i realized this is what guys maken tracks used i always use to wonder when i was a kid, i took one magazine home (stolen)
that night i layed down and started reading man all this blew me away i wanted to make music...
next few weeks went by and b4 i knew it i stoled all the dam magazines, keyboard magazines, mix, and electronic musician and i read all that shit in em!!!
man after reading em all twice i need more info
i would jump online, till i finally one day ran into isratrance, i really enjoyed this forum and here i am...
during that period, 2000 i bought my first board - Nord 2 hehe i learned that machine and bought an mc505 which was my first sequencer and i learned it all by myself, i just read the manuals, and applied what i learned to my music, that and imagination is what makes you make good music. i never saw how other people did it, no one i knew produced, its hard to learn on ur own but its great and feals even better when u accomplish and that keeps atleast me pushing
try at first not to make songs but patterns, and try to get those patterns as fresh as you can then make a couple more and so on, b4 you know it you will have a pretty cool track.
also get one of ur favorite artist track get one piece lets say 8 bars, now loop it and add ur own sounds...
then after u got a couple of your own, remove that artist track out, and listen to what u had... how does it sound? heheh could be cool as fuck right?
now add drums to dat, and a bassline, etc
these lil exercises will help you gain an insight into structure of patterns which later become songs.
have one of ur tracks and tweak it but record each different tweak unto a different midi track so u can have more flexabilty as ur learning, maybe u had some good stuff then u try to tweak something else but fucked up this way u go back and dont have to mess with those tweaks that were good.
try all that and let me know how u doing.

Hey... i posted like this a while ago:
http://forum.isratrance.com/flstudio-psytrance-newbie-sh1t/
And although i didnt get any FL project i stil learned a lot... but never was able to get Fl to really sound like i wanted (it was partially because of my general inexperience) but when switched to cubase and learned lots about music and production (still learning) then you begin to make the machines work for you.
Be patient. There are no really shortcuts and even if you see someones project you wont learn that much, you can use the Fl sample projects.
Psytranceproduction is about many many tricks that only experience gives you... good thing you have already started but the road is kinda long, just be persistent and read a lot. Understand what you are doing and what you wanna do.

@psyaudiodynamics - Whoa. Looks like you've had it the hard way. (Yes, i meant the stealing part too ). Thank you for the words. The only real equipment i bought is a MIDI controller by the name of M-Audio Axiom 49 (i bought off ebay for 200 dollars after half a year of saving). Which is comparatively cheap. All of a sudden i just wanna sit down on the computer and not get off till i complete a track now. . So, when do i get to hear your tracks?
@Vegetal - Your myspace account says that you're from Sweden. I love your country. Mostly because most of my favorite bands are from there. Especially Opeth (the greatest band in the world) .\m/
@Aciduss - "Psytranceproduction is about many many tricks that only experience gives you". Bravo. You said it..
