hey mate!!,
i have a pair of hr824s and they do the trick nicely,i havnt heard the smaller ones yet but i would probbly prefer them due to my poor aching ears!!they are very powerfull and are easy to get carried away with!!
as for sound the makies are quite nice and seem to represent a very true sound,a little colour but all the options on the back you can change them to suit youre room.
very enjoyable hearing a full bass whilst making music on these speakers

Hi

I would recommend to save a bit more money and go for the HR-824... this will make you "long term- happier"..

If you really want to choose between the genelec 1029A and the HR 624, go for the Mackies... I heard the genelecs, and I find them disapointing.

The 1031 Genelecs are in my opinion the ones that are recommedable from genelec.. they are studio standart.. but sound almost too clean and for a lot of people they are very fatiguing.. after 6hours you ears will hurt...

After all, My tip. Go for the dynaudio BM6A. Amlmost same price as the 824.. but it's a matter of taste after all...
Listen to your favourite tunes on all possible speakers and choose the ones you like most.

Good luck

Hi subconsciousmind!

I want to buy the small ones because they are much cheapier.
but you said that i should pick HR-824.
Why, is it so much different?

the 824´s differ mainly in being a bit older in design (not much mind you) and by simply being bigger and having a larger frequency response.
the genelecs have always dissappointed me by making mixes i knew sounded awful sound really nice when referencing on them.
not surprisingly i would recommend the 624`s you won´t be dissappointed and this might be the only pair of monitors u ever need. a little note on the dynaudio. my experience is that they sometimes break even from moderate use (not cranking it, but normal use) something that i have not seen the mackies do yet. i myself have thrown my love on their 626´s but i suspect them to be somewhat more expensive than both the 824 and the 624 but i haven´t seen a price on ´em yet.           Mastering available here:

Hy

the best tip i can give you is
go to a big shop where they sell many differnt
speakers take your best 5 cd´s with you(not only electronic sound) and spend 1 or 2 hours listen to diffenrent speakers.
after that you will more into "sound"
maybe wait a week and did the same again

Yeah excellent advice but also make sure that when u are listening to your cd's you are sitting excactly where u are supposed to sit , simulating sitting in your studio because a meter closer or a meter further can make alot of difference.

If I'm on a track and it flows, i don't stop.. maybe I go to the toilette..but i don't eat, don't break the current... I only drink water, each time I go to the toilette I refill from the tap, thats it. Sessions like this easily least 10 to 15 hours.
