not that it gives me any authority, but being a gemini, i was under the impression that the gemini symbol was the roman numeral for the number TWO - for the gemini TWINS.
more like two capital I's (II) than two 1's..
but i guess it could be seen as an eleven if you ignore part of the symbol. to each their own

In numerology and esoteric sciences any symbol or letter that resembles a column represents a number 1, so two I's or two L's represent the number 11.

The symbol...or glyph...of Gemini resembles the Roman numeral II. It is representative of twins, as well as the possibility of choice between good and evil.
