Well thwarted twice in 6 months by cancelling artists ! after flyers printed and all. In December by Jean Borelli and this time by Celli ( performing two sets , one of Vatos Locos and the second of Earthling) Well, We wondered who to get to replace him and we came up with this line up.
@ Leeds West Indian Centre, Laycock Place, Time: 9pm till Late.

Replacement, was not meant in a bad way, in a good way. Peter in my eyes is one of the few people and labels at the moment that is releasing the kind of music we want we are grooving too. We are very excited !! |

sorry that sounded like i was having ago, not intended! - has he actually played in the UK before - everytime i see his name its playing in lovely places like mexico, brazil, japan, uh oh here i go again - not that leeds isn't nice - not saying that! |

he played at anagha at sahara nights in london in march.. didn;t get there unfortunately.. i would love to catch him.. think leeds may be a bit far though..

hey there,
just to let you know. Gecko was wellllllll niiiiiiice. After a mission getting the place straight and the sound system in place it went off swimmingly as far as i can tell. Due to being knackered i spent most of the night in the chill out room where i was fully impressed by Slack Baba who had everyone noding there heads and a few people movin and grooving to his nice phat chilled beats. It was one of those situations where you're chatting and schmoking a reefer and realise that you've been nodding your head/tapping your for a little while and looka t the speakers and think "mmmmm this is nice" then you look around and see that about 3/4 of the room is doing/thinking the same thing. Good effort mate.
As for the main room. The decor was FINE, well done everyone, it looked very good and its not often that the West indian centre looks that good. Like i said b4, didn't have the energy to do much in the way of dancing so can't really provide a review. managed an hour and half of Pogos' set and a bit of Mister Structures set both of which seemed to consist of very good choons and i'm told that the last half hour was outstanding by everyone that i've chatted too. All in all, had a really really good, if laid back night. Onwards and Upwards for the Gecko |
