Ive done 2 livesets now which have involved basically tweaking live layers on the virus, triggering abelton loops and the odd bit of keyboard playing and fx mangling.

but it still feels like a cop out and id love to take it to the next level so i can really feel like im working up there and making music

anyone have any advice on gear that really lets you make the most of abelton??.

have a nice day

- a bit expensive but classy/sexy and good build quality are the creamware asb boxes - minimax and pro12.

- you can get a light theramin kit for around 20$ on ebay.

- yamaha dx200 has a little bit of everything (sequencer, drums, fm channel)

- analog filter module and/or noise osc - great fun!

- lemur (ya right like anyone here has money for this)

- one of those nice maudio dj controllers

I'd personally be satisfied with having my set laid out into loops. The freedom to layer new loops and take the set any direction you choose is a big job. Not only that to do proper mixing while the set is playing, tweaking some synths, and some various fx and the occasional keyboard lines...that seems like plenty to me.

To me, to do what I would consider a proper live show you would need at least 2 people.

I suggest using every possible control you have to trigger your loops instead of the mouse, so keys, trigger pads, buttons..if you don't have a lot check out some trigger controllers..they're fun to work with in ableton
