Hi "psy-explorers", I thought you may find of interest the following communication that we have received about a new interesting release! Seriously good.
Hope you enjoy, as much as we do!... :

After the international success of Gaudi's 5th album "Bass, Sweat & Tears" by Interchill Records, (first time that a "chill/dub" album reached no.2 on ITUNES EUROPE and no.31 on ITUNES USA official charts!!), we are ready now to announce his new "side project" called CONTINVVM, due to be released worldwide on the 27th october by legendary UK label EM:T RECORDS.
For this project, London based producer Gaudi teamed up with Sound-Therapist Antonio Testa which plays Kalabash (water drum), Stalagmites, Shells, Stones and homemade percussion made with recycled materials; his organic sounds and colours, exist alongside and within Gaudi’s electronic creations and dub manipulations forming atmospheres in which the mind is left free to create.
---------
”An intelligent concept album, amazingly produced!”
PETE NAMLOOK (Artist/Producer)

“Metarhythmic protodub from the grain swamps of Zarathustra 5; Beautiful!!!"
GREG HUNTER (Artist/Producer -“The Orb”)

"A compelling and highly enjoyable offering from this intergalactic dubmaster."
JAMES ASHER (Artist/Producer)

SHANGRI LA LA Magazine - review-

GAUDI:TESTA CONTINVVM (em:t records)
The latest offering from Gaudi see a complete break away from his previous releases and has put together a very ambient, experimental musical works.
Most of the sounds have been made using everything but electronic instruments, then the whole thing has been electronically sequenced.
This album has a very Sound Track feel to it being both moody and dramatic but also quite relaxing and atmospheric.
Created as the antithesis of 'Musical Journey', Continuum is a mental and imaginary journey in sound. Gaudi has worked carefully on this with Sound Therapist Antonio Testa. Antonio uses organic, recycled and home made instruments that in this example have been seemlessly woven into Gaudi's electronic creations forming atmospheres in which the mind is left free to create.
Continuum is a meditation state. Continuum is a gateway to self-determined co-ordinate in space time.....Due out 27-10-05

Track 01 Prologue - Helictite Labyrinth 11'41" Opens with haunting drones and droplets of water in cavernous surroundings. A steady but slow build up blending into a vortes of relaxing synth sounds and harmonious accomplements. The indtroduction of all inds of sampled sounds make this track quite etherial.
Quite Sci-Fi in a way, and of sound track quality in epic proportions.

Track 02 Deimos' Prophecy - More rythmical than track 01 although still very ambient. It opens with an electronic bassline and slowly melts into more harmonic, haunting, drones and vocal chants. Then your gradually greeted by the rythem & drum sections. A steady 120bpm or so beat that is just mellow!
There is clever use of bell or what sound like bells and the dub bassline that kicks in 4 mins into the track is just sweet. This track obviously has some prophetic meaning so says the name and the sample at the end of the track. Do you think the world is going to end?

Track 03 opens immedietely with a very enlightening and peaceful flute backed by strange samples and electronic manipulations.
The track then flows into tribal drums and a nice steady dub drum beat.
There is quite a lot happening in the background of this track and it gives it much dimension.
Then a wonderful dub bassline kicks in with the drums and were off! Gliding on a bouncey castle of surfing sound waves and coordinated samples, the flute continues...This is a journey! A Message!

Track 04 Dawn Cliffs: Il Risveglio Delle Pietre A spooky yet peaceful abstract soundscape. Very spacious and sound scapey. Again a nice build up on the Tribal drum side of things. This album is the work of not only a musician but a Shaman too! The track in some ways is invocative of Indigenous Tribal rituals and Medicine Dances. And you get a real feel for the outdoors with this one. 'The Force Is Strong With This One'!

Track 05 Micro-Evolution Now this is interesting! I thought the CD had a scratch on it. Haha clever trick Gaudi! Nice one. This is a clever example of how to confuse your listeners when they first hear this song.
It starts of with this scratched record sound that slowly builds up into a sequenced electronic loop that has been carefully written. Loops can be very hard to do and do them well but this one really is a good example of clever loop creation. It's backed by what could be the sound of some huge furnice or smelting facory. Cavernous and droning. Then the drums start. this time it's more of a Kit than a machine type of drum rythem. Nice use of dub style echos on the hi-hats and snares. This track reminds me an old album i had some time ago by Omnivor - It was very spacious and mechanical.

Track 06 - Interlude - Now this one is an interlude through a crystal cave floating on a gondala while the violins play for you!

Track 07 - Dub Hynosis - up it sure is! Hypnotic, sustained bass cords carefully crafted and authentically DUB!
Drink Tea, Smoke, Be Mellow! Nod your head, tap your foot, roll another spliff and relax Mon!
Nice drum breaks with echos, very dub stylie! In it's simplicity it is complex. In it's complexity it is really simple. The open expanses of space i find in this music gives room for the mind to create what it will. Not only that i'm sure you could do some wicked ambient mixes with this stuff!

Track 08 - Bass Instinct - Slightly darker than the other tracks this tune takes you on a more active and changible journey into synthetic/organic landscapes using intelligent arrangements and composition of home made instruments combined with modern, synthetic, electronic sequences and loops. It's chunky by nature and moves steadily along. The variations on percussion and sample prevent this track from being too repetitive and keeps your ears attentive throughout!

Track 09 - Space Mind Continuum - Not to confuse that with Space Time Continuum, more commonly associated with The Shaman and Mr.C. This track is nothing like The Shaman, but was created by one, that's for sure! This track is an exploration into mind space and it's eternal continuums. A vast, expans of space, bigger than anything. Including the Universe itself! This tune acts as a trigger to the bigger doorsways of the mind and space. Opening up a cattlecade of sound and imaginary places. places that YOU imagine. Gaudi & Testa have crafted a musical works that will not instill the image in your mind for you, rather open a blank page for you to instill YOUR image. This is very theraputic believe me. I write as i listen!

Track 10 - Drum breaks with Flanger and Reverb set reasonably high creating a kind of dampened sound, sounds like it's trapped in a Tea Kettle! Help! I'm boiling! Any one for Tea!
This is rather different from the previous track. It's mechanical but at the same time rather floaty. The thing i find most impresive is the way Gaudi & Testa have made very clever use of effects such as Flanger and Reverb and in a way turned them into instruments in their own right using rythems, drones, and accompliments as backdrops. Again this prevents the music from becoming repetitative.

Track 11 - Epilogue - After The Plunge - This has to be the most spiritually moving song on the album. Notice i use the word song. This outstanding song has some wonderful; vocal chants, they sound like they could be indian, but im not sure. One simple mid toned drone sound un quavering but flowing bin an up and down motion. A very hypnotic sound and somewhat sleep inducing. Again this track is a spiritually moving PEACE of music, touching deeply within my soul and showing me how wonderful life on this planet can really be. That we are all blessed, and looked after, that we just need to believe in our own ability to be all that we can be. A peaceful journey through the eternal mind. Gaudi & Testa have created a space for us to play in as a gift of spirit and as a reflective mirror of compassion.
Nice one ! Highly Recommend it!

MORPHEUS MUSIC, album review:

GAUDI:TESTA - CONTINVVM (em:t records)

Electronic textures and abstractions encrusted with various percussives and sampled sounds. Most pieces are rhythmic or skimmed along by deeply effected beats - filtered, distorted, sweeping through a variety of degradations or tonal ranges. Ambient planes undulate gently, populated with drowning, spiralling voices - spoken, whispered, murmured. Drips, tape echoes, stalagmites and stones, theremin, tubes and bubbles, bone flutes, water drum, shells and singing bowls - all contribute to this electro-organic continuum. One moment everything lumbers along dub-laden and nodding, strong beats driving across open spaces, the next we're drifting on a viscous curl of hypnotic shifting tone...nothing remaining constant for long.

MOOD A sense of wonder at the variety and beauty of sounds both natural and manipulated. Just as one may be engrossed in nature with all its enormity or in the fragile detail of its minutiae, a rust formation, a lichen ring - so Continvvm holds the attention with large scale rhythmic structures and sonic landscapes or with the sparkle of a well placed electronic tweak, a sonorous impact a breath. From melancholy to eerie, from ageless dusts to futuristic circuitry, from ritualistic grooves to introspective minimalism - we're allowed to roam the mind at will. The promotional material explains that this release may be "better classified 'space-out' than 'chillout', pointing out the intent to establish a blank canvas "for the listener to explore their own inner worlds."

ARTWORK Maintaining em:t records' high standard of presentation Continvvm is released as a quality digipack that is a joy to own. The lead image is an extreme close-up photograph of some abandoned agricultural machinery thick with abstract surface detail - water droplets fresh and clean bejewelling a mottled, rusted domed centre. Elegant white expanses dominate the remainder of the three-panel foldout, faintly textured on the inside of the package. A simple tracklisting takes up only a corner of the rear cover with credits floating against abundant white inside. One wing presents the definition "-n. continuum, that which must be regarded as continuous and the same and which can be described only relatively."

OVERALL Em:t records (pronounced "emit") have been off the scene for five years, having produced a series of seventeen releases between 1994 and 1998. The label has the reputation of delivering music that defies ready classification. Here London based artist producer Gaudi has teamed up with Sound-Therapist Antonio Testa bringing together Testa's love of ethnic, recycled and homemade instruments and Gaudi's electronic skills to create a deeply absorbing series of strangely accessible audio aberrations. Collaborators include, among others, Alio Die on nai flute, Walter Maioli with drones, Opium with voice, Nir Bakshy on cello.

WHO WILL LIKE THIS ALBUM Continvvm works to further blur the boundaries between established genres - fans of pure ambient will likely appreciate the atmospheric departures established here whilst chillout and downtempo lovers that enjoy the experimental edge will be drawn by the colour, depth and exotic nature of this excellent CD.

I think it is superb, a fantastic production mixed with intelligent use of electronica/organica.
