If I am to gate pads or samples, do I have to have a plugin or can you do it from the sequencer? |

if youre using midi for gating u can use the
volume controler (controler no 7) for gating.
however not all the machines respond quick enough (like the virus)
so youll have to experiment with your stuff
or u can use an external hardware gate like drawmers intelligate which can be triggered with midi events
so u can actually draw where the gate opens... |

The Virus responds perfectly to volume changes, you just have to turn off the smooth mode for the sound (it's in the EDIT menu).

u can gate them in the stage of midi sequencing with the sampler (as long as the sampler is ok with midi)
but if u want to gate them while recording ... it's another audio story.

the problem with speed here might actualy be the sequencer anyway
if your using a computer then if the machine is limited, thats when it moght all slow down or go out of time, becuase of the computer not the synth |
