Gated synth parameter modulation

hey guys, im new on music production, and trying to make some goa trance. Im really interested to know what parameter is being modulated on this background gated lead:

I tryed cutoff, resonance, but nothing give me this effect.

It's an 8 minute track, which lead are you talking about?
(I do recommend you trying out A LOT of distortion / saturation / bit crushing, and then modulating the cutoff&resonance of the signal going in -> it start's to "scream" (and different distortion types with different filter types and settings will give you different screams))

Hey, thanks for the fast answer !
im talking about the gated lead that plays in the background the whole song.
But if you're struggling to hear it, check out at 06:20, the lead are playing solo, so you can understand what im talking about.
Atm i'll try the settings you just recommended !

Ahhh OK, so the Du-Du-Duhh Du-Du-Duhh Du-Du-Duhh Du-Du-Duhh 
You can easily get this with the approach I suggested - the distortion will give it this tone, moving the filter frequency (try with various filter types for different effects) will make the sound move, and increasing the resonance will make it "grittier" or "harsher" until it seems to scream - where the frequency fundamental peak makes the distortion work overtime and inject a bunch of strange and delicious harmonics into the mix.
If you want one simple synth with all built in to this type of sound, Sylenth1 and Vanguard are more than capable (more distortion types on sylenth1 ), but you can easily use any synth and some external tools (gater, filter, distortion) to replicate this sound or make your own sounding one

I modulated a foldback distortion with cutoff and resonance using sylenth1 and i got exactly what i want !
And about the synths, yeah i have a bunch of it, so i think that i'll try a large variety of sounding possibilities.
