To answer that we'd need to know how you're producing you're kick and bassline...
Are you using a sidechain...?
Or is it just that you have a really short kick sample. that stops before the first bass hit?
Could be any number of reasons...
How do you normally make your kick and bass?

if you want to make it smaller, zoom out
why does this bother you? if it sounds good, it is good. end of story. if it does not, route kick and bass to one group channel, and compress the group. or try to make the bass notes longer.

The point is does it sound good?
Yes, ok the gaps are good.
No. Is it the fault of the gaps?

If you end up with gaps between the kick and bass notes, and between each bass note in a 16th bassline, that's a good thing for clarity and punch. You don't want the kick or bass notes too short though, as (in the case of the kick) it'll be lacking in body and (in the case of the bass) pitch definition.

Which begs the question, how the heck did you get so much body into that like 150ms OOOD Aliased kick you included with the kick exchange project??? A bit of time compression smashy, or what? |

Fuck knows. Sometimes shit just works out. I can't remember, I'm afraid, but I'm 100% sure there was no tc involved. I made the kicks for the exchange project very quickly in Sound Forge though, if that's any help...
