So, a bartender friend of mine told me about bacon vodka and I thought he was yankin' my chain. He said something about having to strain it through a cheese filter? Is this true? The bacon grease floats to the top of the bottle or something?
Tell me more: Lauryn/Dave.
I always trust you guys when it comes to alcohol. |

actually, the owner makes his own vodka to start with. he has a secret recipe that he would not divulge the info on. then he throws in about 6 slices of raw smoked bacon and lets it sit in the dark for a few months.
During that time, the alcohol sterilizes the bacon so its safe to consume, and yes, little bitty bits of bacon fat separate from the slices and float around in the vodka. The shot when poured has very tiny little pieces of the tasty meat, no filtering there at all.
When you drink it, all you can taste is freakin bacon, and its goddam delicious if you're down with the swine.
Hell, Bernard poured a couple shots for us but I ended up snarfin both of 'em, Lauryn n Dave wouldn't touch the stuff I haven't found it in California yet, but i'm lookin every bar i go to, hahaha!!
damn i love philly

Does it go down smoothly?
Normally when there are bits of sediment in my beverage, it chokes me up.
I'm not trying to knock this stuff, because I love bacon (and vodka) as much as the next man (or more!)
I guess I can strike up a parallel to Goldschlager?
Except the swine is the precious metal in this case. |
