The name varies I know of are FX-Unit, EFX-Unit, Effect-Unit.

So what FX-Unit do you use?
Why do you prefer this one?
Which Effects do you find unnecessary?
And what FX are you missing?
What kind of DJ'ing are you doing?
Do you like to play with effects?

Im using the one built in to the mixer since it allows to be tweaked alot an chained, and sometimes i might use ableton with the send/return from the mixer to run the effects and just sync it with the midiclock from the mixer. In that case there are tons of effects, but i still prefer to use the fx in the mixer since its hardware

Anyways, i guess the efx1000 is the best on the market today if you want a standalone hardware unit

..

This is my situation. I got a Pioneer DJM-1000, and no matter how King it is, I'm missing effects to play around with. I got an offer to buy the Pioneer EFX-500. I'm used to destroy music with a Pioneer DJM-800. One detailed I loved was the possibility to use the Echo with the Color-FX. You can make some intense effects when using say the Sweep effect while using the Echo. Mad.

So what I'm searching for in a nutshell is a FX-Unit which is cheap, reliable and contains the effects needed + more that I didn’t know I needed. Suggestions? Do I really have to go with Pioneer?

Yeah, this seems to be my conclusion as well, to skip the 500 model and go for the 1000 model.

For real Dennis, I'm seriously thinking of selling my DJM-1000 and replacing it with Ecler Evo 4,
and this is because of your suggestions and help on the other thread.

*I'm in love with the thought and praxis of using two effects at the same time. Combining is da shit.

I'm not sure what the difference between the EFX-1000 and EFX-500 is but I've seen some pretty cool stuff done with the 1000

I have old little Numark DXM 06 with tape echo, normal echo, flanger, phaser and LPF more than I will ever need, theres also vocoder for the mic and such things.. I miss some reverb but I would probably devastate music totally with it..
And if I want some more fun I have Alesis Airsynth, combined with onboard FX on mixer u can get some pretty nice stuff out off these two..

Theres one old Numark mixer with onboard Kaoss Pad, thats cool..
And these outboard FX, I really dont dig that.
FX are great but in normal quantities, they should be used wisely..           http://www.facebook.com/xrayzproductions
