Thats mean (Lets say ..) Thats 100,000 (Or many more producers in all over the world are using them too . So .. What we got in here ? Whats new when all is the same .
The music world are open to 1000,000's sound's and tunes . We should not imitation others or making our projects eazyer by grinding & circulat and repetition those samples and Fx's again and again & again , Whats so bad with making your own F'x's by yourself ? Why always when it will come to this work ppls are runing to the net options , Cd's or whatever ? . Try be unique , Make your music with your own mind & hands . |

Hello there guys,
Thx for the replies. Dfx buffer overide is 1 ton of fun. Have been playin around with a bunch of freeware lately and have been gathering ideas as to make some fx. For instance, putting a cut-off filter before a bit-crusher. This gives some interesting freq-like sounds.
Btw I mean no harm when writing that ive heard many artist use the same samples... But isnt it the truth. This doesnt mean that i too strive to sound like "everyone" else but moreso how to get that crisp & hi-qual sound, using my own software/hardware that can be found on these samples cd's. I never suggested that i use sample cd's with fx nor that one has to do so, but have pondered on the hi quality heard on these cds.
After playing around with my virus i have managed to make some nice sounds, putting alot of attention on the filters and not yet concentrating on using the Lfos, which will be done next weekend. And what ive found out will be posted here in the near future.
Finally... to the people who suggest, make ur music by urself (in a thread that offers hope and prosperity to those striving for answers in terms of fx ) ... well thats not really being helpful at all, but fair enough. We all as musicians and producers have our little secrets that we dont want to share? But thats gonna limit our chances of evolving our music to greater heights.
Please keep posting your ideas or thoughts guys and gals.
The good samaritan.

FX is quite a "wide" topic. FX per se can be done with anything you can imagine. Be it sounds that you can record from nature, or can be built with samples, synths, own voice etc etc.
You could record a ping pong game, use your sequenzer to speed up and speed down the hits of the ball, hit a can of beans or distort a female orgasm and run it through some mad filter cascade. there's no limit, that's why it's hard to describe how to build FX.
I think it's helpful to advise learning all forms of synthesis. there's additive, subtractive, fm, physical moddeling and lots more. I'm sure you guys can find a list in google. All are good for effects. When you master most of these forms, including proper sampling and know how to incorporate them in your mix, then you can throw those sample cd's in a bin. it's just more convinient to build stuff on your own.
For synthetic fx, I'd recommend beginners one synth that is capable of different synthesis. there are tons of free stuff out there. If you happen to have different synths, I'd suggest to use a synth that has a modulation matrix, because it will make your life easier.
Albino, Rapture, Blue, Z3ta are some of the synths that come to my mind having a mod matrix. With these synths it's easy to create twisted sounds in matters of seconds. take an y sound and use the ability of the matrix. Experiment, as almost anything can be cut up and distorted in a way.
some examples how to fuck up your sounds with a mod matrix:
velocity -> lfo 1 speed
lfo 1 speed -> pitch osc 1 -> max amount (or set to a reasonable amount)
velocity -> lfo 1 speed
lfo 1 -> lfo 2 speed
lfo 2 speed -> pitch osc 1
now set those lfo's either to a sequencer synced speed or let them flow freely. a mix of both works too. exchange pitch osc1 with whatever you want. it's all in experimenting.
now for the next step, sample/bounce your result.
reverse the result on your audio track, put a reverb/reverse reverb on it, reverse it again and voila one sort of mad fx is done.
don't take me wrong, that's a pretty lame example, it won't surpass or even touch the one you'll find on a sample cd.
think about who makes the samples you'll find on these cd's... it's the guy who's in business for many years, lots of experience, lot's of dedication.
I'm sure you can come up with lots of original things. lock yourself in a room and try the toys you actually have and throw away the sample cd's, they only make your path to the fx way more complicated.

Why to lock ? Im living alone But i understand your point and i must say 1 more thing :
Im 37 years old (Almost 8) . I decide after an hard work to go back to my past (Lorn 3 years piano + 7 years drums at my childhood) , Leave all the other things , start my pension early and to focus on music only . Now .. I belive (Like in every thing in life or theme) That you can stay front your computer in your studio for an 8 , 10 , 12 Hours a day (Iv done it for an 3 years - Coming from my experience) And not doing nothing else (Well .. Eat and drink and walking in the fields with the dogs to get some fresh air and ideas , Thats all .. dont need more . Music can fill an full reincarnation and life thats for sure . In all my life didt find somthing stronger) . To the point .. I belive that if you dont looking for the Fx's , Ideas , Tunes and sounds .. They will find you ! , Simple physics rulls (Like/Same with the womans for example) No need to hurry it will come , So to go and buy those Cd's and makes the all process and procedure faster .. Well , Dont sure thats is the right things to do . And why using other sounds thats the big question in here , Sure you can take and put the samples here on this machine or that Vst and change it that even the company that made this Cd or other artists thats using that Cd over the big world will never recognize and know , But still .. This is yours ? And only because that all are mastering and having an excellent sound ? Mm .. Well , No .. I belive in an hard work (By time , Without any shorts ways & roads , And at the same time to know and learn what ever you do and not let the other work for you) . And you will be there .. One day , All its up to you ! .

1 . You can come at night (Bribe the guard) And take her . Maybe one day some 1 will find you .
2 . Coming in the morning with an full confidence , comfortable and safe with an 600.000 Nis that you got at the time with an hard work and drive to the horizon & sunset .

Greetings peops.
First of all thx to sideFXed. Will go home to the micro-studio and record while I beat the wife and play around with those samples... But seriously , im gonna try the mod matrix and have a go at that.
Cardinals Cartel... No pain no gain brother. I totally feel ur point... Personally , knowledge in music comes like waves, however I have no prediction of what i will learn next as im always experimenting. U have a point when saying that u shouldnt rush to egt success as after spending a lot of time on percussion back in the day I almost lost it - but then out of the blue, the beats came to me. I had reached the point where I was on the brink of giving up music because my percussion results were so bad. But then i took a break from music... and low and behold, one day I got an idea of how I could make my percussion sound better = success. I wasnt even thinking bout music, but it hit me. However since that turning point I found that the more I squeeze myself to figure something out, the more results ive been getting, so for me the lock urself in the room approach is appealing(, this only works for creating sounds however and not making the tracks or creating melodies, that stage of production should not be stressed.) I believe that the more of a battle u take on in finding an answer, the more feedback u get eventually. The key is to keep all doors open and keep on experimenting. And keep asking questions to those who may hold the answer
Maybe it is a little naive thinking that theres a path to perfect sound, but any comments that could help me or others on "the" road are welcome. so lets get back to the point ladies and gentlemen. How do u guys like to process ur fx?

i'd say tweak a synth, play with delay, flanger, phaser (model88 is real nice) and distortion (!!). Then reverse, cut, glue, reverse, copy/paste (3x) or something like this
I always have problems with fx, but after some experimenting it all comes together.
