I prefer using filters through the FX channels, since sometimes I want to combine bandpass and lowpass or whatever.
But I want to play around with cutoff frequencies, resonance, etc. How do I do this in Fruity Loops?

if you are using organic fruity VST's (such as the channel settings, fruity filter etc.,), simply right click the knob which you wish to edit, click "Edit Events" and simply draw the events you wish to automate.

Thanks man, this is a good start - but it doesn't give me a full solution - it keeps reseting itself every time I play the sample. As well as when I want to use it only part of the time (add some bandpass to a lead, but only in a break).
How is this done?

first off, it shouldnt erase ANY of your settings.
second of all, if a lead is in say, bar 23. simply go to that bar in the event editor of the bandpass.

Fruityloops is no good with that automation shit - it must get better with time.
