I receive anywhere from a handful to literally dozens of demos a week from all around the world. Very few of these demos are serious. The vast majority are just links to a MySpace profile with one or two streaming songs, often just fragments and samples.
If you want to be released you have to get serious (or simply know the right people). Research the labels you are interested in. Read their demo submission policy if they have one (I sure do). Prepare a small press package with some full-length MP3s and a short bio. Be sure that you are ready; don't send your first piddly experiments in Fruity Loops like 90% of the other kids. And FFS don't send abusive emails demanding a response!
