Old Stuff :
Astrix - Eye to Eye
Cyber Cartel - Magic Visions
Protoculture - Refractions
V/A - 7 eleven compiled by Xerox
Space Cat - Beam me Up
These days, I like aggro melodic full on.
Stuff like Joti Situ, Blink, JP, Electro Sun, etc.
Full on album of the year goes to Astropilot, Fruits of the Imagination IMO. It's a very unique melodic work. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for something refreshing that is NOT "yet another progressive album" (tm).
A year or two ago when prog released Gaudium, Antix "Twin Coast Discovery", and Human Blue... Prog seemed to be going somewhere. Melodically, the genre has no dramatic mid-section, so it is mostly of no interest to me. I just wish it did something with leads.
Perhaps the best melodic group in the past three years, is Rupesh Cartel, a synthpop group. They have such emotion and create absolutely stunning melodies, making them to me, one of the best synthpop groups ever!
Goatrance has been good recently too, with groups such as Filteria & Goasia. I'm guessing Narcissus Project is goa too. They are good as well. |
