Vote here what you prefer.
1 = Full on /power/Goa-trance
2 = Dark/psy-trance
I just want to how many ppl here like one or the other best and WHY!!
Vote 1 or 2 with some examples of your favorite artists and why you like most that style over the other.
Vote 1.
Favorites: Astrix,Gataka,Chakra-Astral,Transwave,Talamasca
Bulletproof,Infected,GmS,Domestic,Panic and many more.
Why:
I liked and still like power tracks ,melodies and rhythms that keep me smiling , keep me dancing and feel nice. Feelings for the win. |

Azatis in order to learn what you want to know you have to know how to ask it.
For example i like Hallucinogen who is a psychedelic trance artist,according to your categories i must vote for category 2 that is Dark/Psy Trance.
Ehm is something wrong here or what?
Also Goa Trance and Full On are very different and i know a thousand people who like old Goa stuff from the likes of Power Source and Chakra but dont like at all full on.
Wrong question will only bring back wrong answers

Now that you mention it,yes maybe i did a mistake. Since i like many psy0trance artists as well..
Maybe my all question/vote thing was wrong from the very beggining.
But i did that for 2 reasons.
1) For you , promoters, get a better view what we greeks like more , even if i bet you already know.
2) To actually hear what everybody prefer to hear more at parties. With a few words Full on styles or more Dark ones?
Youll ask me why? Because , for example , i saw a guy saying Chakra played crap at party , when most of them were old time classics.Im wondering what they wanted to hear from chakra more?
Others saying excellent full on productions, "cheesy" ones etc , where are the same guyz that leaving the more dark-psy parties and say " really bad music"..
I mean , im very curious what most ppl here , at greek isratrance prefer to hear at greek parties.... I did wrong, with the whole capture of this idea. Yes i admit it, and very thnx for point this out.. but dunno other way m8.. Really.
I hope you get my whole point, and sorry again for any misleadings or wrong approaches. Im just a little frustated and curious.. Thats all. |

I guess the right question would be what style of trance each one prefers and to ask people to name their 4-5 favorite artists to get an idea what the tastes are in this forum.This would be too general though but it could be a good question.Ofcourse even then you would have an idea of the taste of the people in this forum and not the general taste of people around Greece which i guess is much broader and with a trend to more "commercial" and easy listening sounds.
I mean i wouldnt be suprised if in this forum the so called Dark Psy would get more votes than any other style of music but in real life a Full On artist like Astrix would gather double and triple people than any dark psy artist would do in a party wherever around Greece.
In my humble opinion people in Greece prefer music around 138-145 bpm with some melodies inside and just a little bit of cheesy elements like some vocals for example or a groovy baseline and thats why artists like Astrix,Talamasca and GMS are so popular here.This doesnt mean that this music is the best but its the music that most people like because its very danceable and easy to listen i guess.
What people dont like is very fast and hardcore music or music that is very slow and complicated to understand.Thats why ambient (that is my favorite style of music) is not very popular in Greece because its mostly individualistic music and not party music like full on or psy trance for example.Also thats why Greek people dont like experimental projects like Aphex Twin (whose concert couple of years ago got cancelled due to low tickets presale) because his music is not easy listening at all.
In a few words i believe that Greek people just want to party

Agreed Goa has nothing to do with full on.Goa has a lot of melodies but the final outcome (generally speaking) isnt something stupid like most of the full on releases that swarm the market atm.
Also Darkpsy owes much to Goa.Old producers like Ubar Tmar,Sandman,UX,Menis etc played goa or their style was more goa than psy oriented and they played "dark music" most of the times.
PS:Detox from what i've seen in most of the parties greek people dont care who is playing as long they have something to "eat" (a big percentage of them not all ofc)

Necronomicon if things were like that then i guess every party would be full or at least have a lot of people.
Things are not like that at all (thankfully).
People care about the music guests,the promoters,the places where the parties are held and many many other things.
In any case please lets stick to the music part

i vote: Osom, Kindzadza, Furious, Xenomorph, Polyphonia, Irgum Burgum, CPC, Orestis,Derango...and i could go on for quite a while...plenty of mind stimulating stuff out there...
i loved back in the day, good kox box, infected, hux flux, gms, skazi, astrix and so on....
simply not mind challenging anymore...
personally i do not care whats the style, as long as im continously surprised on the dancefloor....
ps: gil party in saloniki.. loads of good music:)

+1 vote for the dark/industrial side of psy and for the goa style i wrote previously but i guess is because my music starting point was industrial/ebm/electrogoth

What's "power trance" anyway? We'll end up with 500 names in the end, just like metal, when you saw a new band that played "Neo-Industrial Doom Dark Death power metal"

Detox i am 100% that if u invite Derango and Zoolog and promote the party like u promote an astrix party the same quantity of people will come and even more-at least 250 people from Athens went to saloniki to hear OSOM live,imagine what would happen if someone invited them to athens
Astrix,talamasca and GMS are so popular in here just because the greeks dont have the opportunity to have variety at their parties
Do the innovation and rick a bit
adjust to the present state of trance and make a good party with the structure that is used all over the world nowadays
night music for night and morning music for morning
Also as u see the Greekadelia projets are in High demand
ZIk,Polyphonia,Stanger,Dark elf,Narcosis are playing outside of greece all the time
The topics like "what do u listen at this timeetc" are filled with tracks made by contemporary Dark-orientated artists but u still support old people who play nanananananananananana I am a bitch turn the swith crap music
If u are so psychedelic trance friendly person as you say u are do something about it
now back to the topic I enjoy mostly nightime music nowadays,nightime music as Trishula and Discovalley defined it in the beggining of the century
because find it ming challenging and it's musicality makes me dance
and theres no vs thing
its a matter of taste

CRX if the so called dark psy artists in your opinion when promoted properly can gather around 1000 people (like Astrix does for example) or at least 700 people then why dont you along with couple more friends take the risk and organise and promote such an event to promote the style of music you love plus to make some good money because organising such an event will have much less expenses than an event with more commercial names.
I read your theory,respect it but i disaggree with it so i guess someone has to prove me wrong and make such an effort in Athens.If you are 100% sure then i advise you to make the effort,you know the dark psy scene well and i guess your friends will help you and maybe some artists will play for free in order to promote their music and create something new.
Me i dont believe in this music (not to mention i dont like it at all) and thats why i dont get involved with it,you that you believe in it you can do something about it i guess.

P.S 1 We are talking about a club event ofcourse and not a free event because in a free event things are different and commercial names like Astrix or GMS can gather easily 3000 people but thats a different story.
P.S 2 I support old people because i am old fashioned thats why i like 80s music i guess and have the same mobile phone for the last 4 years lol.Ofcourse on the other hand one could claim that old people are timeless people Toodaloo Motherfuckers!!!!! |
