i don't think that this preset-thing would work.
the reason why i think so is, because the preset is only half of the way.
as far as my bass is conserned, effects and eqing have a main part of shaping the sound.

there are a couple vst's with a nice bass u can use
like muon tau and the ppd tritium (one of my favorites)
those basses don't need much 'synthchanging', u can allmost let it like they are
u need to add lots of fx
like:
-eq (s)
-compressor (s)
-filter (s)
-sometimes a reeverb
-maybe some dist, can be nice
-freaky fx like: a flanger, a (freaky) reeverb, play with the panning, .........
so much things u can do with
I suppose u try them all, it's the best way to learn
Good luck!

http://s49.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=3JDVRI0MC7N2D2B8A9EPRA2ZZK
I will load up some other decent presets 4 various synths later tomorrow.
but i still wish for better influence myself!!!
Oneday hopefully people won't feel so thretend by sharing there skills and knowledge that they have learnt most likly along side other pro artists, and they will help us all with the daunting task of good bass so we can get on with the job and create music to enjoy & have fun to!

I think (in my opinion) if you search after a the bass you have been searching for, you will learn so much more in the evolution you make and create (maybe) some original and new fresh ideas. Maybe some never heard sounds will come out ...
But it's a fact that if you have some examples it will be much easier to create a bass, not necessary the way how you like it. Probably it will sound more like the preset, except the equalisers, compressors, etc. If it still sound the same, try to be VERY critical and make the bass better . Then you did something good by making it better! The trick is you have to experiment a lot.
In the beginning you can spend days searching for the 'right' bass. After a while (if you practise enough), you can make one in a couple hours. The more you practise, the faster you will make a good bass. If there is enough evolution your basses will sound better and better too
Good luck and try to move enough because you will get a lot of pain in your back. I know a lot of music making freaks with their complaints, because of the low 'movement-level' ...

the best way to learn is to try tweaking every knob and learning how it shapes the sound. usually u need to use one oscallator short attack fast release to make a bass preset. A lot of fatness depends on filter the synth uses.
have fun |
