Hello,

Heres the deal. Im using battery 2 as a sampler in cubase. There's an open hh, closed hh, a snare and the kickdrum. It's all fine for a while, but when i've looped the sequence for a few times, the snare starts sounding like a stick. And at times, when the snare plays, the kickdrum wont play at the same time.

All of the samples have their individual cell and note.

Driving me nuts...

theres an option in the vst plugin configuration - if i remember it right its " old host behaviour " or something like that - u have to switch this one "on" for battery....
If u havent tried it yet do so, maybe this will fix ur probs....

Cheers

i think that is not a problem related to batery, although it happens to you in batery samples. try changing your asio settings, be shure you have your windows CPU settings to background aplications, and be shure you set the amount of virtual memory in a way that summed to you RAM makes 2GB ( for example if you have 1GB RAM set your virtual memory to 1024MB)

hope this helps.

Control Pannel / System / Advanced / Performance / Advanced ( and in the bottom you have the virtual memory setup )

(maybe the translation of the menus are not accurate as i´m working on a portuguese windows xp)

also a good tip is that if you are running a computer with 2 SATA hard drives, you should set the virtual memory to the hard drive which is not running the operative system as it enables a much faster use of the virtual memory.

if you just have one hard drive then you should get a program like " Diskeeper v9.0" and set a "boot defrag operation " so that you get the virtual memory space all together makin its use much faster.

hey LITHIUM,

Do you only set it to "background services" if you are running a stand-a-lone version?

or should you have this setting always?

Also when you talked about "virtual memory" I have "1 gig ram" but it is set at 1536MB is this bad ?

sorry about the Q's, but thanks in advance for any guidance.

Hi Fugga

you should set it to background services if you are using programs that run many aplications at the same time, like for example cubase when running severeal vsts.

windows default virtual memory is set to 1536 as most computers even today have only 512 RAM. if you have 1gb of ram and your virtual memory is set to 1536mb this enables the computer to acess much more to the virtual memory before all the RAM is being used, and this makes the computer slower as virtual memory is slower than RAM

hey LITHIUM, can please trouble you for a little further advise?

I set the virtual memory like you sugested (1024MB),
but it also has a "Maximum" setting ? it is defaulted at 3072. is this good?

I also saw that you mentioned "2 SATA hard drives".....
how can you tell if they are "SATA"? and also how can you know what drive the Virtual memory is running on?

sorry to Hijak this thread.....but i am sure other's will find this useful also.

thanks once again LITHIUM, !!!

hi there no trouble at all my friend

you should set the min and max to 1024, this way your system gets more stable.

to know if you are running SATA HDD you can open the computer case and see the cables connectiong to the HDD or you can run a program like for ex. SIS Sandra 2005 that tells you that.

in that menu to set the max and min virtual memory space you can choose which drive to use. you can see above which one you are using.

if you are still having problems PM me and as soon as i get home i tell you specificly cause i´m at work now and this computers run a portuguese windows dificult to translate the menus.
