well, to start out with, today I was geting into some cool experimentaion using some things I saw on here about building swooshes, and I came up against this brick wall of frustration mostly with the standard audio editing tools on MAC.
for one logic's internal audio processing is limited to a handful of commands, none of which I thought was particularly usefull
second Peak, and Soundtrack Pro (the only editors I am aware of), also have pretty limited tools (dont know about version 5). like with the myriads of PC editors, I can't find such simple functions like pitch bend or tone generation
so, what I want to ask any of the apple users for some wisdom. Is there anyway to workaround in logic to make a very long and sweeping pitch bend
..or can anyone suggest an editor that I may not be aware of that can do these things
I can use a PC like I am at the moment, but, it would be cool to do it on at least one computer

why not just use a synth and apply pitch bend automation to it?

thanks all for your advices...
i've tried pitchbend with hyperedit, and with automation, but I can't get the ranges that an audio editor provides
just see things that are really easy to do in cubase or soundforge, but convoluted in logic.. grrr...

actually, I did get a good result with albino.. all good!
just a little thinking outside of the box..
still would be nice to see some more audio features (in 8?!)
...also totally off topic here, but I was just watching this skazi video (pretty funny, actually! ) and what is it with this 'i'm playing the game song... i saw IM did a cover of it too .. who is the maker of this song, and why??

If you want to pitch bend audio, stick it in a sampler... but if you're making swooshes using a synth would seem far more logical. Logic is a superb programme and at the very least equal to Cubase in what it can do! |

you need to specify the bend range within the synth you're using...
if your synth doesn't have that option simply use a different one that does (most do).
using a synth for creating swooshes is so much easier than using an audio editor. the workflow is much more efficiant since you can tweak the sound to fit your mix in realtime whereas using an editor you'll need to fit only after the sound is already rendered.
apart from the actual bend curve you can for example apply amp/fil env, layer more than one osc, automate the synth's internal fx, etc... all in realtime.

I agree Logic has a limited audio editor.
My hopes go out with you for version 8.

the albino gives a nice 48 semi-tone range for the pitch bend, which gave me the range I was looking for. i was originally trying to use another synth that didnt have a customizable range, and I was getting wimpy-sounding risers.
once again i just have to say, the albino rocks!! god, I love that thing!
