Hi dudes, i hope you can help me
i've had this ideia sometime ago, let me describe it to you:
I was thinking of nothing at first, but, then i started thinking of a darken atmosphere filled with backroom sounds, sounds that you can't quite identify, sounds coming from a long distance, some rising from the left , others rising from the right, and as these sounds rise you get an intense time warper with a lot of bass coming from the center, getting spread and bringing those sounds(from left and righ) together and the darken atmosphere gets wider and it starts to spin around the panning circle, that time warper is increasing it's power as those left and right sounds come to the center, then you have a simple noise you at first think it's another noise from the global atmosphere but that simple noise develops itself into a rising crystal clear sound that has it's head in the right ear and the tail fadding out in your left ear, then you start hearing a tribal beat (but no bass yet), a kick, some distorted and dark bongos following the kick as it spreads through the ambience and you start to hear a unique crystal lead, coming from far away but you know it's gonna get itself right in the top of the global sound, and then the time warper malfunctions and everything stops! those sounds are now ready to open the way for the kick and bass to start running, the ambience is still there, but half dead and you can only hear the tail of that ambience, and you have an intro for a track...
Now how would you, i mean, if you had this ideia growing inside your mind, what would be the first thing you do and the processes you would make to get the ambience from your mind to your ears?

I would begin experimenting .
Even if i have an idea it never turns out as i imagine it. So i just create and let the flow take me with it.
You got the idea, so just start and see how it turns out!

I'l personally would go this path, but before you read it,bare in mind I'm a complete and utter noob, and take it all with a good and healthy dose of scepticism:
A good chunk of artist work is kipping it orderly, and this is where art separates between men and sissy punks.Differentiate your task, and work from bottom to top (or whatever, just keep it in order, write your shit down, use different colors,be mister fucking uptight, and your art will thank you later).
For example, you have this grandissimo idea, but from your brains to your speakers the path is long and tidy.Good chance your idea will never survive the trip, unless you actually would invest yourself in it,and start disintegrating the problem to smallest bits and work your way up.
First of all, your sounds, start by adding the sounds which are circulating in your thoughts. Here is your first problem,if you aint efficient in the technics of making sounds, you will go down quickly right here.
Good artisto works around the technicalities on his path to his conceptual Nirvana,so find a way to bring your sounds the quickest inside your project.
You know how to FM this sound?FM it.Don't know how to FM it?Granulise, sample, look in internet for samples, think about some preset which sounded alike to your head sound, ask people on isratrance how to do this sound.
Organised your sounds?Go one level up,now you are a conductor...Put your shit in loops the way you want it,and again, figure out how to do best your idea-puting it manualy in piano rolls, your maybe record it with controllers,or maybe using gate plugins,or maybe sidechain it,or maybe using some sort of formula controller,or maybe making several midi channels of same sound, but with different envelope...and so on.
And go one level up,and you catch my drift.I'd say, making electronic music is fine art,in the sence that unless you are really master, most of the time you just guessing and making a lot of experiments, most of them sound totally different from what you have in mind.I can give my big penis to be chopped off,if there are more then a handfull of artists who control their flow from the beggining to the end,and most of the time it's a game of trial and error.
Which is fine, cause greatest things on this world were discovered by accident and not by meticulous planning.Peace out.

Hey bro, wanted to reply this thread but haven't had the time.
Basically I would do this:
> Place the main sounds you imagine in different channels, atmospheres, noises, rythm, fx, etc.
> Arrange them in sequence to determine what goes first and what follows.
> Then automate main elements, like fade in / out, filter sweeps. Just enough to get the idea rolling.
> Then place detail and accents here and there, and automate stuff like panning, sends and synth settings.
There you go...
Basically you have to translate your ideas to technique and tools. Understand your tools to the fullest and then use them to craft what your mind holds within.

Yeah, same here. The stuff I build is nothing I had in my mind before. It just comes while I try things out.
I often have stuff in my mind though but everytime I try to make that stuff I fail totally. Im still to slow and unexpierienced with sound creation, and while trying to achieve what I had in mind I loose the original idea....creativity seems to go away when I fiddle around with technical things for too long :C

+1 to the spliff.
No, seriously. Sometimes I spend a couple days on a tune and eventually stop getting anywhere, start wasting time, loopitis, etc etc... Then I smoke a spliff and get some silly idea about automating delay sends to one another.... so I record that, it sounds fun, and I do it again, adding another delay in the chain, etc etc... say to myself, "derrr,, heheheh, lol, what if i REVERSE REVERBED the DELAYS!?!?!?!? maaannn i'm sooo high lol lol" and then I do it, and it sounds awesome, and I keep going with retarted ideas until I have somehow made a sweet breakdown.
Now, that doesn't exactly help you with your particular issue.
Someone already said it, but you will need at least some proficiency with sounds design and/or a good sample library... At least enough to be able to say, "hmm, for that long evolving sound on the left channel I want a sort of catt purr-like low sawtooth wave with resonant flanging drone sound... and I will automate it by slowly bringing it into front and centre with panning and clever use of reverb, hipass, and echo... then, once I have another sound on the right, I will mix it up in the centre channel with a flanger, while automating its intensity, resonance, and speed so it starts to sound like it's swirling around faster and faster"
...Er, for example. The point is, you actually described in writing EXACTLY all you need to make that sound as long as you know how to design that. What I mean is, once you can translate "slowly coming to the front" into "slowly opening a hi-pass filter while slowly bringing down the reverb and echo sends", you have the tools you need to make this an audio reality.
I don't have amazing sound design, and my songwriting is only slowly improving (imo), but I have spent a lot of time learning how to translate these abstract ideas into automation and plugins - at least, in theory. It doesn't always work, but I always learn something on the way.

i'm sorry.. what?
Basically what i mean..i dont hear my song in my head..i think it doesnt happen like that.I play guitar to so ill just sit around and write a riff and incorporate it and play around with it.Or ill just be messing with basslines and add funky hi hats and find a cool preset and then tweak it till i like it.
Sometimes ill watch a movie and hear a sample and build everything around that sample..the message its trying to convey..if its deep ill make the ong try to follow deepness..it all depends
For example-
this song came about because i was trying to(dont make fun of me)make a remix of a song by Fergie called Clumsy.I wrote a basslines for the remix but i didnt like it..so i stripped away the remix track and then i got a funky psystep thingy going on.
I dont know man..music just comes. There's no way to become good unless it comes naturally i think. If you follow all the rules your music will come out sounding like a tutorial

First of all, if i wanted to hear your tracks i would ask you, so don't do that (posting your tracks, and don't this in the wrong way)
Second, my question is about technical details, not music instincts, those i have, the technical stuff is what i'm 'upgrading', but thank you
