The psytrance community is quite small, almost like a family, or at least it's considered one.
The artists are usually taking an active part in it.
Moreover, it seems that every 1 of 5 (approx.) members of the community is an artist. At least a serious one.

Anyway, I always liked the idea that the psytrance community members were refered to as the new age hippies. I.e.: Frienly, happy life-lovers.

But then it turned out to me that some of the artists I used to be friends with vanished.
After they became "famous", they didn't have the time to treat pricks like me.
Others completely ignored the flattering, the good feedbacks or even the simple "hi"'s.
And I always considered myself friendly and cosy...
I'm sure some artists who do care for feedbacks and do give attention to all, Or at least to most.

Nevertheless, I'm not a sycophant. It makes me feel dirty.
I want the freedom to speak with people, get to know them better, get them to know me better, and most of all - give respect equally, and receive it as well.
I respect artists and appreciate their efforts, yet, I don't understand why some of them are ignoring their mates after they get recognition.

All in all, I miss the mates I used to have and feel sorry for losing them.
It feels weird to admire someone and not be able to be friends with him.
I believed it was possible in the psytrance community, and consequently I was very disappointed to find out I was wrong.

Cheers.

That sucks , man. But it's their loss... not yours. Let them enjoy their ego flight, but there will be a time when they'll have come back to earth.
So don't give up, there's lots more beautiful artists in the scene who care about the music and not fame...

One more thing --
It's hard to forget your family.
I always considered myself a part of the community.
Even when I left (and you can't count the times I left on one hand) and tried other communities,
I always returned to the psytrance community, and never forgot anyone from it.

I reckon it's all a matter of will.

Woman, actually.
hehe...

And I even made some people join our community and create music themselves.
I am very proud of that!

i must say that most artist i am in touch with are super cool and very friendly....i did meet some that did not want to respond or keep in touch and some that i thought they did but ended up not doing so...
what this shows us is very simple.....artists are people....each one has his personality and acts dif'....like in any relationship its nicer to have a cool "responding" friend and not a "superstar"....
cheers.

a big GOOD ON YA goes to all the cool people out there that dispite beeing better at what they do...dont act like they are           "....or is it???"

Well, Lyri, I'm sorry to hear that this had happened. I'm glad to say that it didn't happen to me, but maybe that's because my friends didn't become artists
I guess it has to do with the fact that trance is becoming a mainstream thing, it is not the old tribe anymore.
Things are more commercial these days, not only the music but also the PR, the marketing, everything.

Trance used to be the music of the new hippies, now it is the new pop...

Hi Lyri

nice to see u here again where's your brother?

I think that we have done a wonderfull jub of opening ppl's mind to this music over the years and thus the music lovers and the community has grown in size. the popularity of trance is IMO at its highest point compared to previous years and its far from reaching its peak. that means that there are more ppl listening and making music. it also means that some of the artists are becoming more famous and more busy. and its only natural that some of them become pricks - high nosed snobs who wont answer your email.
u have to know who your friends are and keep them.

On the other hand there are those antipathic ppl that were antipathic before they became artists and continued being antipathic after they become artists.

Some of them changed to be misanthropes but most of them stayed antipaths.

But on the more serious wave of thought - u r right Lyri but that is life, and belongs to every field not only to Trance community.

About new age hippies - check out this thread http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/37294/forum/50

I believe those ones and a few more are the only ones left           A man with a "master plan" is often a woman

Of course, some people are just like that -
apathetic, antipathetic and misanthropic people are as simply themselves,
without relating their musical or social state. Obviously it's a matter of personality, though, it is affected by the environment.
I accept those traits, of course.
And I believe it's quite wrong to complain about a person's personality. And it's even wronger to try and fix it.

I know I can't "fix" what's happened to the community. We've grown bigger, and it keeps growing.
I agree with what you guys said, and have to add that this is a point of no return.
The community will keep growing bigger.
Maybe it's a good thing. More artists are discovered, more cd's are sold, more parties.
But on the other hand, the magic was lost, without return.
And I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. [Especially Asaf (kaz).]

@Yuli: indeed, that party seems great. Authentic.
My dad's swearing in was in Massada.
such a beautiful place it is.
Good to know there are still people like that, and parties like that.

Anyway, I guess I have a sentimental attachment to trance, and to people generally,
that makes me feel sorry for losing the mates I was wrong to believe I had.
Since I'm not the little girl I was in the beginning, when I joined this forum
and when I discovered trance (I was only 13 when I first heard Son Kite. not Nitzhonot!).
I still have that dream of a loving community, everyone helps everyone, good music, etc.
But you know what they say about dreams - dreams were meant to be dreams.

Maybe I've never had any friends, and this is all a dream?

Nah.

Yes, I'm 18 and a half now.

I wasn't complaining about the Underground.
That's another issue.
There's still a psytrance underground, but it's completely different from the former one.
Seems like the current underground is about nostalgia and past grieving.
But I'm kind of fed up with sobbing about it.
Furthermore, I do respect the scene nowadays, mainly because it has tremendously developed.
I believe it's a great thing that psytrance artists can actually earn money.
There's still a magic, but it's not the same.
Now the magic is the nostalgia, and not the present.

Moreover, there can be high quality parties of mainstream too.
High quality is a very abstract conception.
I don't mind the mainstream.
What bothers me is that together with the advantages of the progress,
there are also disadvantages which disturb many of the eldery fellows of the community.

But again, this thread was about the artists, not the scene.
And I wasn't using any generalizations since they're usually wrong.
Obviously, not all artists are apathetic to feedbacks.
And again, yes, I agree, it does have to do with personal traits and environmental influences,
but I also believe that together with the progress and mainstream,
some artists got into some sort of an ego-trip, and forgot where they came from.
They're not too many, but they exist.
After all, one of the reasons why I love the psytrance community so much is the sociability,
openness, warmth and freedom that people here spare and share.
Of course artists are human, there's no doubt in that.
But if they're human, they shouldn't neglect their family, and be more involved in it.

Mevertheless, not everyone is antipathetic.
Actually, most people are empathetic and caring, due to the natural need of love.
I believe that antipathy is a consequence of interests and the need to survive.
I didn't say it's bad trait or an abnormal one. On the contrary!
But just like a baby doesn't forget where he came from, neither should the artists.

Cheers.
