WHAT TO EXPECT:
PULSAR is proud to present a new evolution in the PULSAR brand of events. We have enjoyed nearly two years of consistent, small scale, nearly monthly events featuring some of the best and brightest musicians in the California electronic music and dance scene. As we evolve as an organization, we recognize the need to expand beyond the usual format that our guests have come to expect. At the same time, we also recognize that a certain amount of consistency is desired, if not required to develop the intimate and consistent relationship we desire to have with the dance music scene. As a result, we at PULSAR have decided to begin another journey that will compliment, and draw contrast with our existing events; allowing us to branch out further, while at the same time remaining true to our original intentions, goals, and musical vibe. In this way we hope that this new series will not only appeal to our existing fans, but also bring in others who have not had the pleasure to share a night at Pulsar yet.
We are happy to present our third such endeavor.
Expect a night full of some of the world's most cutting edge electronic dance music. Your ears will be guided by some of the most dedicated professionals in the Southern California electronic music and dance scene. These individuals have been hand selected for their tireless efforts in bringing the most modern electric sounds from around the globe to the Southern California Electronic Music and Dance scene; and now to YOUR ears, for your aural enjoyment!
The goal of PULSAR is to regularly bring together an eclectic mix of different, yet equally modern electronic dance music styles, into a united environment where many styles can be discovered, thrive, and be appreciated. In each edition of PULSAR, one can expect new and exciting sets from PULSAR residents; along with rotating guest DJ spots from the most promising up and coming, as well as long established DJ's in the scene.
To open Pulsar Progressions Vol.3, Pulsar resident/organizer KAHN will play a set of PROGRESSIVE HOUSE and TECHNO with a unique TRANCEY and PSYCHEDELIC EDGE. Next up, we happily welcome back SYNCHRONOMETRY, an up and coming member of the southern California underground music scene. Bruce will keep the energy flowing with a set of deep PROGRESSIVE TECHNO with a TRIBAL and GROOVY edge. As the night the moves along, Pulsar resident/organizer ST BLACK will take the reigns; playing his signature blend of DEEP PROGRESSIVE TECHNO. As we reach the peak hours of the night, Pulsar is very happy to welcome EARTHBAG & ARMANDO of the Los Angeles based music collective, TERRAKROMA, in their Pulsar debut! As one of the driving forces in the southern California underground scene, Terrakroma has pushed the boundaries of progressive, techno, and psychedelic music. Terrakroma's DJs are in high demand, and have become musical staples throughout the scene. As an organization they have been bringing the new sound of progressive to a new generation of dancers for several years now. They are responsible for bringing many international artists to California's dance floors, for artist debuts and return trips alike. As an artist collective, they have released many original tracks on labels such as DESERT TRAX, and have collaborated with many of today's leading progressive artists from around the globe. Andrew and Armando will be playing their signature blend of PROGRESSIVE TECHNO with an INTELLIGENT and PSYCHEDELIC edge.
As the hour draws later, the energy will continue to build well through closing, leaving dancers wondering when the next PULSAR will be held!
So we hope you will join us for PULSAR PROGRESSIONS VOL.3! You will be TRULY happy that you did!
And on behalf of the PULSAR team, we would like to thank each and every person who made it out to any or all of the Pulsar events we have held so far; making all of them such unforgettable nights! These events have been filled with positive energy, love, support, amazingly friendly vibes, and have certainly bestowed a purpose on the PULSAR organizers to continue organizing these events for the sake of the dancers! You all make this possible, and we wouldn't be able to do this without your support! We do this for you, the electronic dance community!
We would also like to send a special thank you to STUBBY'S BAR for hosting Pulsar during our first year. None of us will forget all the awesome times we have had there, and the owners and staff of Stubby's bar will always have our gratitude and support.
ART/VISUALS:
At PULSAR we strive to create a fun, comfortable, energetic, and psychedelic environment for our dancers/patrons. With our limited pool of personal resources, we have a small collection of lights/black lights, wall hangings, and other miscellaneous pieces of decor. This is of course in addition to all of the sound equipment we are already bringing. We are always making an effort to enhance the visual experience of our PULSAR events, such that they only improve as time progresses. A large chunk of any donations we receive go towards Art/Visuals.
Of course we are well aware that in our community there are many artists, and others just waiting to express their hidden talents. That is why, in an effort to help the local art community, as well as to enhance the vibes of our already fantastic PULSAR events, we welcome artists professional, casual, or anything in between, who would like to contribute to the visual appeal of our events, and put their work out on display. Of course you are responsible for your artwork. I cannot guarantee the safety of your art pieces due to obvious circumstances created between dancers, beverages, and everything else. I am willing to work with you, to figure out the correct placement, or any other details to make this work better for you. In addition, if you get in touch with me far enough ahead of time, I would be glad to include your art exhibit on the flier!
And of course non-artists, if you have any pieces of decor or lighting, especially psychedelic decor that is black light reactive, such as tapestries, posters, statues, incense burners, or anything else, we would love for you to bring it to add the the collective ambiance of the room. "A PULSAR (portmanteau of pulsating star) is a highly magnetized, rotating Neutron Star that emits a beam of Electromagnetic Radiation. This radiation can only be observed when the beam of emission is pointing towards the Earth, much the way a lighthouse can only be seen when the light is pointed in the direction of an observer, and is responsible for the pulsed appearance of emission. Neutron Stars are very Dense, and have short, regular rotational periods. This produces a very precise interval, between pulses that range from roughly milliseconds to seconds for an individual pulsar.
The precise periods of pulsars makes them useful tools. Observations of a pulsar in a binary neutron star system were used to confirm the existence of Gravitational Radiation.
