WHAT TO EXPECT:
Expect a night full of some of the world's most cutting edge electronic dance music. Your ears will be guided by some of the most dedicated professionals in the Southern California electronic music and dance scene. These individuals have been hand selected for their tireless efforts in bringing the most modern electric sounds from around the globe to the Southern California Electronic Music and Dance scene; and now to YOUR ears, for your aural enjoyment!
The goal of PULSAR is to regularly bring together an eclectic mix of different, yet equally modern electronic dance music styles, into a united environment where many styles can be discovered, thrive, and be appreciated. In each edition of PULSAR, one can expect new and exciting sets from PULSAR residents; along with rotating guest DJ spots from the most promising up and coming, as well as long established DJ's in the scene.
Opening this edition of Pulsar we have resident DJ, AVEON, returning to Pulsar after his absolutely massive set at Nebula. David will be playing a different kind of set than he usually plays, covering: AMBIENT, CHILL-OUT, and EXPERIMENTAL ELECTRONICA; undoubtedly with distinct influences from his background in PROGRESSIVE TRANCE, TECHNO, and PROGRESSIVE, as well as his extensive exposure to PSYTRANCE. This will be a special set to celebrate David's birthday on April 20th! Expect a unique upbeat set to get the night moving! Next up, Pulsar resident/organizer ST BLACK will bring us his signature blend of PROGRESSIVE TECHNO with all the DARK, SERIOUS, and EMOTIONAL grooves we have come to expect from Nick! As the night moves along, Pulsar resident/organizer KAHN will take the decks. This will also be a special birthday set, as Steven will be celebrating his birthday on May 2nd! Tonight Steven will be playing a transitional set; something he has become quite adept at! It will start with PROGRESSIVE PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE grooves with a TECHNO edge, and bridge the gap up through PROGRESSIVE FULL-ON, and FULL-ON PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE. Next up, Pulsar is very happy to welcome back the owner and founder of the legendary PSYTRIBE... ANDY BARAKUDA!!! Andy should need no introduction to dancers at Pulsar, as he has become a regular attraction at Pulsar gatherings. He is one of the original pioneers of the southern California psychedelic music scene, and has put together countless gatherings in over a decade of organization! As one of the most well versed and versatile DJs in the scene, Barakuda has earned himself a name as one of the most reliable and heavily demanded PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE DJs around! As usual, dancers can expect nothing but high quality, cutting edge PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE from this master of the art! Finally as we reach the last set of the night, Pulsar is extremely happy to welcome BODHI for his very first time playing at Pulsar! Bodhi is of course the founder of the legendary PSYCIRCLE RECORDS based in San Diego, California. He has been involved with the psychedelic music scene since 1996, and has been involved with music virtually his entire life! He is an award winning producer who has carved a niche out for himself for his unique psychedelic grooves and ability to keep the true psychedelic aficionados happy! He has released a great deal of music on compilations, as well as Psycircle's own label compilations featuring their own talented resident producers; as well as other internationally acclaimed artists. Psycircle has organized a great many gatherings over the years, specializing in the harder and more psychedelic edge of psychedelic trance; while keeping the broad spectrum of psychedelic music well represented at the same time. We are very happy to have Bodhi join us for this occasion, as he will be playing a special set to celebrate his birthday April 26th! As one has come to expect from Bodhi, expect a set encompassing the HARDER, PSYCHEDELIC edged PSYCHEDELIC TRANCE and NIGHT grooves.
As the hour draws later, the energy will continue to build well through closing, leaving dancers wondering when the next PULSAR will be held!
So we hope you will join us for PULSAR V.16! You will be TRULY happy that you did!
And on behalf of the PULSAR team, we would like to thank each and every person who made it out to any or all of the Pulsar events we have held so far; making all of them such unforgettable nights! These events have been filled with positive energy, love, support, amazingly friendly vibes, and have certainly bestowed a purpose on the PULSAR organizers to continue organizing these events for the sake of the dancers! You all make this possible, and we wouldn't be able to do this without your support! We do this for you, the electronic dance community!
We would also like to send a special thank you to STUBBY'S BAR for hosting Pulsar during our first year. None of us will forget all the awesome times we have had there, and the owners and staff of Stubby's bar will always have our gratitude and support.
ART/VISUALS:
At PULSAR we strive to create a fun, comfortable, energetic, and psychedelic environment for our dancers/patrons. With our limited pool of personal resources, we have a small collection of lights/black lights, wall hangings, and other miscellaneous pieces of decor. This is of course in addition to all of the sound equipment we are already bringing. We are always making an effort to enhance the visual experience of our PULSAR events, such that they only improve as time progresses. A large chunk of any donations we receive go towards Art/Visuals.
Of course we are well aware that in our community there are many artists, and others just waiting to express their hidden talents. That is why, in an effort to help the local art community, as well as to enhance the vibes of our already fantastic PULSAR events, we welcome artists professional, casual, or anything in between, who would like to contribute to the visual appeal of our events, and put their work out on display. Of course you are responsible for your artwork. I cannot guarantee the safety of your art pieces due to obvious circumstances created between dancers, beverages, and everything else. I am willing to work with you, to figure out the correct placement, or any other details to make this work better for you. In addition, if you get in touch with me far enough ahead of time, I would be glad to include your art exhibit on the flier!
And of course non-artists, if you have any pieces of decor or lighting, especially psychedelic decor that is black light reactive, such as tapestries, posters, statues, incense burners, or anything else, we would love for you to bring it to add the the collective ambiance of the room. "A PULSAR (portmanteau of pulsating star) is a highly magnetized, rotating Neutron Star that emits a beam of Electromagnetic Radiation. This radiation can only be observed when the beam of emission is pointing towards the Earth, much the way a lighthouse can only be seen when the light is pointed in the direction of an observer, and is responsible for the pulsed appearance of emission. Neutron Stars are very Dense, and have short, regular rotational periods. This produces a very precise interval, between pulses that range from roughly milliseconds to seconds for an individual pulsar.
The precise periods of pulsars makes them useful tools. Observations of a pulsar in a binary neutron star system were used to confirm the existence of Gravitational Radiation.
