Hello all!
searching here about mixing and Frequency manipulation I see many here suggest hi pass all channels leaving the low frequencies to bass and kick...
But in practice sometimes this subtract of frequencies get a "toy tone"..
I think maybe a fine manipulation of groups leaving some lowfreq to others channel like leads, arps, etc make the job fine....
I like work with low frequencies in all track..but this requires a lot of work to make a power bass and kick...considering that elements use 70% or more of low frequencies..and when mixed with other tone with lowfreq too the mix share this lowfreqs, making the bass and kick with less power...
the point is...how manipulate the freqs to don´t subtract the low of some tones and maintain a "killer" bass+kick combo?
what is yours methods?
thanks and sorry a bad english....

Basically you just have to find the right cutoff and slope for your filter so you get enough lows in the leads etc. without clashing too much with the bass.
A lot of people recommend quite severe cuts and that can for sure make it easier to get the kick and bass cut through and make the mix sound cleaner, but personally I think it's often overdone and results in too sterile sounding mixes.
I started using a HPF that has an envelope follower using the kick and bass as input and route tracks that contain a lot of bass through that.
That can be nice for having full depth in the leads in breaks but trim a bit off when the bass and kick is going.
I'm using Scope for that...not sure with what you would best do that natively.

Use a lower cutoff frequency for your HP filters than you might otherwise do, and a low shelf to reduce the level of low-mid and bass frequencies rather than remove them altogether. Filter and shelve each sound separately to make sure that each sound gets the treatment it really needs.
