Im just trying to make my sound a bit beter trhough EQing...
If there a re any knowledge people that can help me understand it a bit beter

Because I have my tracks full exported "Finished Tracks"

So now I take them to Traktor so I can DJ them.

When i cut off say all the Hi's and Mid's
on the kick and bass "Low" frequency I hear some other lead synths.
Is that normal?
or your only supposed to hear the Kick and BAss only
Sae with leads
your leads in the "Mids"
and all the hi hats and percussion in the "Hi's"

Is good mixing/mastering like this?

and if so from what freq... does "low" "Mid" "high" range

Is it something like Low

Low's

200hz

Mid's

400-4500

Hi's

800hz above

-----------------------------------------

I know its a confusing question...
But any replys would be awesome
I just want to know if my theory is right..
if its wrong plese correct me

also I want to move on Abeltin Live soon so... I think this will help me a lot!          https://www.djjeto.com

well, i think you need to understand that EQ's do not only work at a certain frequency., (unless you use a very special kind of eq)

eq's start working above and below their frequency

also, most eq's only boost or cut about 18db or so.,

now, imagine you have cut the high and the mid by 18db.,

then you will have this result.,:
bass plays at normal level.,
then the level starts to go down when you go to the mids., first gently but the closer to the frequency of the mid-eq the more the level is at -18db

so, the level doesnt suddenly drop, it is gently reduced around the frequency of the eq.,
how gentel the curve is depends on the Q value.

but after the mid eq center frequency, the curve goes back up., so all signals higher than the mid center freq are becoming normal in level again.,

and then the curve of the high eq starts kicking in, so the high becomes less loud unill the minimum is reached at the hi eq center frequency.,

soo., first of all,
eq does not remove a frequency completely, it only removes it by a certain ammount., (usually +-18db)
then,
it doesnt remove (for instance) the whole mid, it removes it most strongly around it's center frequency but less when you move higher or lower from the center.,

so it's very normal that you still hear things even when you have your eq down all the way.,

if you realy want to remove all highs and mids you should use a hi-cut filter.,
this is just like a low pass filer but it usually doesnt have resonance.,

hope this helps a bit!
greets.,

I usually cut all my leads with HP filter around 100hz to 200hz

Yes this is normal.

I don't know exactly how the filters are implemented in Traktor but in general filters have a slope. What Zildoggo explains for peak EQs is also true for filters. For instance a 18dB hipass filter means that the filter has a slope of 18dB per octave starting more or less at the cutoff frequency of the filter.

So a sound one octave down (half the frequency) from the cutoff point will be 18dB softer. A sound 2 octaves down (1/4 the frequency) will be 36dB softer etc.
The same is true for a lowpass filter but the other way round of course.

That is a bit off. Typical 4 band mixer EQ:

Low: 100Hz and below
Low mid: 100Hz - 1.5Khz
High mid: 400Hz - 8Khz
High: 8 - 10Khz and above
