When i first started listening to trance (couple years ago), i was told that talamasca was the only french trance artist... well yeah you gotta start somewhere, we were n00bs but heh, better starting out a n00b than never starting out at all
now we are more educated and boy, were we wrong...
makes me so proud to be franco-israeli (and i also have a third, british passport, but bleargh lol)
Riton
PS: I have something for talamasca, i just love his stuff.
but Bamboo forest and Silicon sound are excellent too. I kinda like neuromotor also.

talamasca & daddo !!!
I saw lestat played some butterfly records with the pitch at the top for all his set...you would not even recognise goa trance there.so far all the tracks that are heard from lestat are juxtaposition of sound patterns without subtility, art of composing and psychdelism.
and if daddo is the best producer of the world then things may have changed a lot (did he get some good drop session??)!!!!
the first transwave live was made with copy of total eclipse patterns.
the first transwave tracks were some very pales copy of mwnn tracks.
the first album from deedrah is empty of anything interesting ....
the 4 first years of transwave did not produced any tracks with a real groove for a whole 7 minutes track !!
blue planet made some time to time some great morning tracks (when not too high bpm) and so did jaia and bamboo forest.
silicon sound seems a bit higher than the average.
the first album of altom is very medium.
the last album of polaris is wasted time to listen to.
moog/spectral has done a lot of beautiful tracks.
total eclipse is the only big french trance name...but no more releases.
antidote is just 33% of total eclipse and took too much coke in his ibiza years.
mais respect à serge pour les bons tracks et sets pendant toutes ces années !!
noma, neuromotor etc...their first releases never gave me the desir to hear them again.
boom

tous les gouts sont dans la nature !!!
but it would be very sad that after 10 years of work, the help of friends and connections, and using the top teck processors and oscillators, unhandicaped adults do not succeed in composing danceable trance !!!!

frankly I am french myself.
I bought my first record in 1977.
I never stopped buying and listening to music since then.
I listen to goa trance since 92, mixed it and I am aware of all the main porjects since then.
2 weeks ago I was in paris and bought myself about 15 cd of trance.
back in my city I must admit that the tracks I kept are not french ones !!!
I really do not care about the geographical origin of tracks or artists...I keep what I feel is good, but contrary to a lot of people in france and out of it I do not think that france ( about 60 millions peoples) is especially full of good artists.
and please no more daddoo or lestat things it just sucks !!

like this guy that thought that talamasca was the only french artist (no pb about it !)!!! the only reason is because lestat droppped as soon as he could to krembo connections.
explain to me why a friend of me go to a party in london with simon postford and come to him during the party and spoke to him with no barreer and felt the love this real master of sound so simple.
when guys like daddo or lestat as soon as they got 2 bunches of local success they behave likle stars...stars of what !!!just a litle man looking in a laptop.

i've been quite interested in this Droidsect project and all the acts that came out of it...

Digital Talk,
Dejan,
Jellyheadz,
etc...

how did this Droidsect project get started to begin with anyway?

also- there is no producer with such a full range of expression that I can call them "the best"
every producer is missing somethings the other ones provide, and is providing something the other producers might leave out. very few producers has a very "well rounded" sound polished by time.
most production projects are politically limited in nature.
the trance scene became split over the different musics and now this split is like a cartoon...
extreme and mutually defined in terms of each other.

if the topic is "french trance" my immediate response is "bassline" for the attention focused to the role of the bassline...
basslines are physical and almost sexual...

I wonder- of the artists, who are originators and who are more derivative?

if the party scene is so dead, what holds up the french trance people?

its kind of slow in san francisco right now too... as far as parties are concerned... but there has never been a better time for music production... tons of music production. lots of good stuff too...lots of artist culture shaping each others views and ideas...

Well the problem imo, is that there are not many serious promoters in france, except a few crews in Paris, french promoters are very lazy and they and most of the time they want you to play for free.
There is also the problem of with the fucking police and the anti-rave laws, wich imo was the fault of the hardcore tribe side of the scene, fucking junkie morons with there tatoos all over there bodys and percing in there nose and military clothes, the kinda of ppl that listen that can listen to kick drum at 240bpm for 8hours in straight, they take some much drugs that they think they can fly and jump from roofs and shit and kill them self, this has happend a few times, now the french goverment take everything that is ''RAVE'' and forbit it, its really sad           Making full-on (specialy with a vb-1) is like playing FIFA in easy mode, you're always sure to win.
