I think the spirit of free thinking in the SA scene has died and we all have to be lemmings now and if you are not a lemming you should pack up and leave because it just wont be tolerated.

Thoughts or Opinions?

Actually I don't think its moved on either, its just diminished. But you surely can't dispute its there.

Go to an audiomatik or an (old) beartrap.. Good free-thinking trance-loving vibes.           difficile est non saturam scribere

you're probably right.

the free spirited thinking is there and there are so many ideas floating around to save the planet... stop polluting.. stop this... do that.... all these great ideas.

but everybody just gets trashed..... and leaves all their dirt lying all over the place.

anyways... maybe its just me though.

          Mind my mind.

what? only you who gets trashed and leaves dirt lying around.. hehe

i agree with you there.. guys dropping litter everywhere, and stumbling around being obnoxious, and screaming and breaking things at the tent-areas.. noise pollution, rubbish pollution and 'negative energy' pollution are rife..

some people need a good slap.           difficile est non saturam scribere

hehe. naaa.. i don't take drugs or anything like that anymore. don't need it.

once you tap in... you're tapped in for life.

but at one stage.... the psychedelic trance scene was definitely a platform to help create positive change in south africa as a whole.....

but now.. it's become more of a commercial commodity than a medium of expression and a voice for progress....

peace.

PS. yeah.. slap dem folks.           Mind my mind.

Does that include *puff puff pass*?

Have you been to a week-long festival in Europe, Apsydrop? I highly recommend it if not.. it will restore any faith you've lost (relating to psytrance being a 'medium of expression and a voice for progress'.

Especially BOOM.. it is so much more than a music festival. I reckon a high proportion of people there spend little time at the main dancefloor as there is so much else to do.. workshops, lectures, cocktail bars, outdoor restaurants, chill out hill, 'fire stage' (all drumming.. and poi), a full on green, flowered garden on another hill in an extremely dry terrain.

Its not commercial, its a playground for those with the passion. Intense experience is all i can say.           difficile est non saturam scribere

any of you hear that their is an apparent effort to have a burning man in south africa...

i think the attitude which surrounds such an event is great, however i am not sure if south africans in general are ready for such a thing.. if you take the example of how people behave at parties etc

if trancers maybe showed more effort not to be a bunch of fucked up non caring druggies (i am generalising here, only because thats how many people who are not in the scene see us) there might be some more tolerance...

parties are getting a worse and worse name because of a few people , and there is a subtle inflitration of narrow-mindedness, this i say with alot of caution, because its not obvious, yet is obvious if you look close enough (hope that makes sense)

that's a little unfair.. however the parties seem to be 'getting', the average (actually the majority) of trancers are far from being 'drugged up non caring' types.. what attracted me first, and holds my attention is that people at parties are completely the opposite.

which parties has everyone been going to?!?! i went to two in feb and both had amazing, friendly, positive vibes. in fact, all the parties i've ever been to have had such a warm energy about them. of course there has been one or two small bad incidents.. but they are so minor and removed that i forget about them instantly.

narrow-mindedness? bad name?

dude i don't care how other people see us.. what things do we (i know am guilty of this) say about the 'pretentious collared-shirt brigade' who frequent places like opium. in fact many of my friends go there, and shun my trance party passions.. i personally don't give a shit though.. because they are different, and i embrace that i am not the same as them, and many others.

i really disagree with all this constant putting-down of SA trance parties.. they are fucking fantastic, and i will keep going for years.. regardless of the online negative vibes.. ironically coming from the people who claim to be the ones 'holding it all together' - not aimed at you, l337.

just smile and dance, and go home with good memories. that's all there is to it. camping with mates, or on your own, surrounded by nature and good music.. how can you possibly be focused on one drunken bonehead causing kak in the corner, diluted by 1500 other happy faces when you're surrounded by such splendor?

i'm amazed whenever i read these criticisms.. are you, and others not perhaps projecting something internal?

shit i love debate

i think i was saying alot of that with reference to the possibilty to a burning man festival

could you see half the youngsters at SA parties swapping food for toilet paper??

Cleaning up and leaving only their footprints behind.

projecting something internal.... bad trips prehaps..hehe.

You might be right about the focus on one or two assholes making the whole thing seem dreary

dont get me wrong tho, i do enjoy SA parties to the fullest and i think they are awesome, its just one or two things i suppose that i notice that makes me think that the general spirit is not there or rather it seems like it is there. maybe it is just me, but then again i felt the same thing with time when i use to frequent D n' B parties, it was awesome in the beginning and with time the magic seemed to fade.

but you cant really compare dnb to psy , can you now.
