exactly!!
and make it open source, in that the costs are laid out to those that will come...
i.e rig = x
venue = x
etc etc
work out how much is needed....etc etc
NON PROFIT
some either minor things to be considered is alcohol licence...insurance, etc
and on that note.... i see all party promoters put on the flyer that they are not responsible for bodily harm from say the rig falling over...
what it it did fall over and it killed some poor little trancekop....woudl they or wouldnt they be responsible??
To hold any sort of official kind of event...(on the grounds of a concert) dont you need a licence of some kind? yes no...thoughts opinions?...i know about the sound issue (cos i know the environmental sound laws backwards), its just the basic 7 dB rule above ambient, as it currently stands...
however...law is changing next year, to the use of SANS for environmental noise (10103) , and thats going to throw the cat amoungst the pigeons...
considering the following:
Most outdoors are held in what are considered rural areas
so your day time ambient LEQ = 45 dBA, and night time ambient LEQ = 35 dBA
because music is being played = any measurement taken gets an extra 5 dBA added and another possible 5 dBA for tonal variances
any measurement on the boundary if a complaint had to occur with the way current trance rigs blur out will more than likely be above ambient and considered a disturbance ....
with this in mind, this friday i am sitting in on the Cape Town City council environmental noise crisis meeting this friday... and i can tell you , this coming year there is going to be a heavy clamp down on offenders with lekely suggested fines of R10 000
oops a bit off topic.....
anyways...free parties wont happen...but NON Profit parties are a plan!
cheers

i agree that non profit and "free" partie are a great way to get exposure and on a side note we had some scaffolding come down at a gig i did in nottingham last weekend one chick with her arm in a sling and one dude out cold for most of the night
so health and safety has its place and accidents do happen , i think free parties would be more viable in indoor venues such as a nightclub were you are not forking out for rigs or generators as the venue has all teh equipment that you need and the venue can take the money off the bar for the use of its facillities |
