Hey guys, i recently found all of my soundcloud tunes on sites like mp3ga musicaonlinemp3 searchallmp3 and alike.
at the state where my production is, and also considering the unbeatable power of warez, i'm quite happy my music is spread there (free spotlight), but the fact that the sounds with the disabled downloading are also there for download left me wondering who bothers to invest time to rip tunes from soundcloud and upload them there? how does these 'services' operate? do they have personell who does that stuff or this is user generated? download enabled tracks i think might be grabbed by robots, but what about riped ones?

heh, download link goes to soundcloud domain, and even generates play count even though it's allready mp3 you can save as to download strange stuff
so it seems they are fully automatic. now i'm thinking how to use this abuse to good use In A Society That Has Abolished All Adventure The Only Adventure That Remains Is To Abolish Society

A small preview version of your track 3-4 mins is a good way to protect you sounds. also some small fades too.

the max you can get from soundloud downloaders is 128kbps, not really enough to make it valid |

Well, if a user can access your tune over the web, and listen to it on his side, than there's nothing you can do. The content is hosted in the server but is accessible via Web, and typically web players only allow you to hear the tune, however with any simple download utility you can access the tune in a variety of formats - not sure about the quality (if you upload a wav and it's marked as "not downloadable", if you only hear a lower Kbps version).
Nevertheless, if people can hear it that means they downloaded it, and they can also save the content to a file, effectively downloading the track.
Since this is a lost battle from the start, if you don't want people to download tunes from your social media sites don't upload full versions of your tunes -> or since people can download them anyway, just mark the tracks as downloadable (that's my way of thinking)

Technicaly everyone is downloading from soundcloud...
when you ear a sound, its on your computer, but its compressed at 128 kbs, the warez downloads are no more than that, some might be more "sofisticated" and convert the 128 stream to other format, wave or other higher mp3 rate, but it doesnt matter, if the original source is only 128kbs, it doesnt make much difference
unless you acess the soundcloud server to download the original, no one will acess it
i think there is no big deal about it, who ever willl use the 128 downloaded tracks, are only regular people who want to ear your music in their ipod , whenever they travel or in the beach...
let them have fun...
if anyone intends to use your music for other purposes, like performing or anything, they will more likely to buy it in higher formats.
