Howdy! I have dug thru the archives and found a couple old mixtapes from
before the millenium... back before all this fancy dancey CDR technology was
the budget norm. With the help of the Great O. Kehoe these casette tapes
have been brought into the digital age at an asounding 192 bps MP3
compression!!! Feel the authentic hiss of the cassette like never before. I
have added descriptions of the various mixes in hopes of inspiring bedroom
dj's or those who have found themselves in a creative rut. Enjoy!

info about mixes:
Lofi Love Machine - SIDE A (1997). I created this tape out of
frustration with not having "good" gear. I felt like I was limited by the
shitty gear I had, when I finally realized, I was only limited by myself,
and my desire for better equipment. This mix was created 100% live on two
belt drive turntables i got for $5 each at Value Village, connected to a
Tascamm 244 (4track recorder) which was used as a line mixer with no
crossfader or headphone monitor. So... no headphones were used for this
mix. I just thru records on whenever the hell I felt like it, using the
visual cues and breaks I could see in the vinyls... including lots of spoken
word / storybook records over the top. This mix could best be classified as
IDM/Expirimental/Ambient [Aphex, Speedy J, Orb, and more] (this mix was
released with custom jcards limited to 23 copies. out of print)
Cicuscision - B SIDE of the above mentioned mixtape. Starts off with an 8
minute ambient track i produced that wasnt meant to be a track at all. I
had just got a Juno 106 and wanted to fuck around with it... So I used my
DR660 drum machine to run a MIDI signal into my Juno. Then I routed the
Left and Right outs to different channels of my Tascam 4track and EQd them
different. When I recorded the A Side I forgot that this was already
recorded on the other side. It was my only copy and I was too lazy to
record it off on another tape, so I just let it be. The remainder of the
tape is my interpretation of what electronic music would sound like at a
demented circus carnival. Again, no headphones were used. 100% live
recording with various spoken word records thrown in over the top. One
might call it FreeJazz or PsyPolka. However, I just call it Goa. (this mix
was released with custom jcards, limited to 23 copies. out of print. 1997)

Downside - Previously unreleased mix. (1998). Side A. This was recorded
live on 2 Technics 1200's and a Roland DJ mixer. This was a collection of
some of my favorite chillout records. Created as a going away gift for
Sonja who had to move back to Germany. Coldcut, FSOL, ORB, and more...
(Chillout/Downtempo)
Upside - Previously unreleased mix. (1998). B Side recorded live on 2
Technics 1200's and a Roland DJ mixer. This was a collection of some of my
favorite psytrance records. Created as a going away present for Sonja who
had to move back to Germany. (Psychedelic Goa Trance)

I would love to hear what people think of the mixes... The one most "trancers" will probably be interested in is the "Upside" mix. I have since sold all my records and can only name a few of the tracks.
I'm sure some of you could help me fill in the gaps tho? Can anyone give me a tracklist for this mix?
Also if anyone could help with a tracklist for the Circusciscion mix that would be great too. I know I put a lot of Shaolin Wooden men in there, and some Psyharmonics 12" that I forget...
