Bombay Beatbox presents: the pre RESONATE event:

FREAKY MASALA@Hothouse w/Janaka Selekta and David Starfire.

Janaka Selekta (San Francisco)
The San Francisco Bay Area urban electronica community spoke loudly and clearly when it declared Dhaamal SF co-founder Janaka Selekta 'Best DJ' in a recent SF Guardian reader's poll. Janaka brings a dancer's sensibility to the decks, by deconstructing each track, and merging and beat juggling parts to build crescendos and diminuendos. Janaka is renowned for his deft touch while constantly working the tracks and mixer to blow up dancefloors across the U.S., Asia, and Europe. His unique sound combines original songs and homemade bootlegs with
floor-stomping tracks from around the planet. Janaka's breakbeat tune, 'Bol Breaker,' broke BBC Radio 1's Bobby and Nihal's Top 10 and the Dhamaal Soundsystem CD hit the iTunes Top 20 Electronic Music Chart.

David Starfire (Los Angeles)
David is a passionate Producer/Composer/Multi instrumentalist/ DJ that lives in Los Angeles. A producer of varying styles from dance to rock to hip hop to bhangra and everything in between. His production standards are compared to the best and top DJ's are spinning out his original songs and remixes. Island crew in LA. As a producer/writer/performer, David has written and produced songs on several CD compilations such as S Guaro (15,000 copies), Craigs List Casual Encounters (featuring artists Mark Farina and Miguel Migs), Lonely Planet Passport... (20,000 copies, featuring artists Michael Franti, Karsh Kale) and also the upcoming LoPro Lounge mix CD. Currently he is shopping his full length CD and should be out by late spring or mid summer.

David performed in the Do Labs giant Oasis Dome to a packed crowd at Coachella in 2005 and 2006. He threw down a set on the Xingolati groove cruise and also performed at the L.A. at the Alex Grey fundraiser.
