That's a hard one- there are so many Zappas really...
Here's some from the top of my head...
Classic Zappa- The Mothers of Invention- We're Only in It for the Money
Twisted Zappa- Zoot Allures
Funny funky Zappa- Sheik Yerbouti
Story telling Zappa- Joe's Garage
Hosting Steve Vai Zappa- The Man from Utopia
Movie Zappa- 200 Motels (the movie, though the album is also good).
Classical Zappa- The Perfect Stranger
Theater Zappa- Thing Fish
Live Zappa- Does Humor Belong in Music? (both album & video)
Synclavier instrumental Zappa- Jazz from Hell
Guitar Zappa- Guitar (including a piece named GOA)
I think it's a good start. Enjoy

Zappa ad the Mothers were a happening in those days, not just a band playing. |
