1:I have no photos, but my memories are in epic 3d living color. So beautiful, and the love vibes were fucking palpable. I feel a stronger connection and a kind of beautiful codependency to our funky little scene. Honestly, I love so many of the folks that were out there that I just really feel like part of the family. The paths were literally paved with crystals and I found an awesome scorpion. I saw a giant forest fire (which is not so great, but you don't get to see that every day), I saw at least 10 mule deer and 3 pronghorn antelope. I saw 4 Osprey and I almost caught several bullfrogs while playing in and around the river. I am sunburned and happy. The music was awesome (our set was only so so, but I had too much fun to care much). The sound worked out well on both stages. The gennie never died. The painted hills were like a surreal wile-e-coyote panorama and looked like they were painted by Fredrich Church. I guessed that there were about 60 people who made the 182 mile trek, and it just felt like the perfect size to me. What can I say, but that was an awesome fucking party. Fra Sho Show was exactly what I needed, when I needed it. Thanks Nate and Ashley and everyone else who talked us into trekking to our own private desert oasis of awesome. I give this party 6 stars out of a possible 5. Kiss

2;This was my first desert party, unless Phoenix Fest 2005 counts as that too. First trip out to eastern Oregon though.

Got there around 11PM in a rental car. On the way, I saw a fat porcupine in the road. Tongue Party was going pretty strong with around a dozen people milling about and a few more on the uptempo dancefloor and at the chill area. I could tell a lot of people were sleeping up until around 4AM because I suddenly saw a lot of people appear at the stage area.

Great sets by all those who played. I particularly liked Micah and Cheylene's set tho people were packing up and leaving around this time (noon). After that Herbie came on, but most people had already left. I thought that the crowd left a little earlier than usual. Erik Z and Waater took charge of an encore presentation after the event was officially over, though I was honestly too tired to stay.

The land was very beautiful and I managed to take home a few quartz crystals...my first natural find. The milky way and surrounding nebulas at night were mesmerizing. The canyon backdrops were breathtaking in the morning. The weather is in the low 80s with partly cloudy skies in the day with little kick in the wind. Really the weather was just about perfect.

Definitely worth the rental car fee + gas I had to pay all myself to get out there, tho I wished I had company on the way there or back. This was one of the more difficult outdoor parties I found; took two wrong turns on the way! Can't wait for the next one...

3:This party screamed of memories for me. It's been about 10 years since i have psy'ed in the desert and man, the desert wants to hear psytrance more than anywhere else! There really is nothing like the sound in the desert, passing through you, not bouncing off of anything but the people that you are dancing with. The stars twinkling to the beat as you peer into the vast billions of years of the past as you look above, while dancing on ancient soil below.

The land was gorgeous, even better for a party than i remembered it being last week. The spot is a natural amphitheatre, though a very large one. If you travelled up the hill behind the dancers backs, you would crest and see the most amazing mountain landscape surrounding the event. Off in the distance we all saw lightning flashes, though I believe that the natural landscape of the spot wards most weather away from it. It seemed as though all of the clouds were traveling around the party instead of over it. The desert gave us a magnificent sunset and an amazing sunrise. The moon hung low in the sky for only the first few hours of the darkness, and then hid behind the mountains to give us the full stary opus of a desert moonless sky. The milky way arching over us, each wisp of its spiral arms visible.

Not a single mishap occurred as far as i know. No people showed that didn't wanna be there, the sound was huge and strong all night long. BIG AND FULL-ON CRAZY-TIME PROPS TO NATE AND ASHLEY!!! They really did this without much help and they showed us an incredible time and an eye-opening experience.

The music was really good throughout the night. My real standouts being Deke and Zach and Micah and Chey. Maybe because we don't see these guys often, but in general I felt that Deke and Zach had some really solid sets, with the music staying in a similar and powerful vein the whole time. Micah and Chey's set oozed of personal nostalgia and was the right kind of vibe for the late hour, keeping smiles on everyones faces! I also had tons of fun playing, realized I hadn't played under the stars in years, I have mostly become a morning artist in the psy scene, so it was really nice pulling out some heavier music and playing to the universe.

This year has taught me a lot about the possible future of this scene and i am starting to get really excited! With the slight drop in attendance and the parties happening much more spontaneously, I have realized that we really do finally have every piece of necessary gear to throw killer parties without the help of commercial rentals. I imagine the next year to be full of small killer parties and that this consistency will bring a new energy to the scene, this makes me very happy! The successful use of this land gives me grand hopes for all the future desert parties as well!

Fra Sho Show was a small party, but much of the family was there, it really felt like home out there. I can't really put into words how much I appreciated the event, it seems that this is a pretty crazy time right now, lots of people making big changes in their lives, and dancing some of that intensity off into the cosmos was much needed. THANKS AGAIN 2X

I love it!

ps. pictures up soon, laurel got some great ones!

4:That party was super fun. Checking out the painted hills over the crest was sublime and rolling/stumbling around with a parasol in midday was about as much fun as I've had in a long long time. I also walked away with waaaay too many pretty crystals. They were everywhere. And they were awesome. How cool is it that Nate, our resident rock hound, chose a rock hounds paradise for a party?

It was just one of those small parties where everyone is just hanging out having fun, and not worrying about the next ten minutes, much less tomorrow. So mellow and open. Really, the wayy it should be in my book.

I kind of skimmed over the posts ahead of me, but I have to concur with the general sentiment that this summer has just been legendary (in my mind at least) for the quality and variety of parties. I just love the fact that so many different people have been coming up with ideas and sharing their visions for awesome parties. It's just been super good for me.

Now, on to the super important question on everyone's minds. What was the mineral that made all those crystals? I've been googling, and my best guess is calcite. Am I right? Nate, tell us! Cheesy

4:Wow! I had a seriously amazing time out there, I was so happily stunned by the magic of the land. I really needed such a venture. I didn't get there till near the end, but was stoked to see and visit with such great friends for a while and loved playing some of my fav tunes to the universe and those still chillin'. We played tunes for hours starting at twillight Sunday too, had a blast and watched the moon set. Such an epic spot it was! This can not be stressed enough. Smiley Many many thanks to Nate and Ashley, you folks RULE! The effort involved for this was inspiring, love youz! So worth it to go the extra mile, no doubt. Like Byron I also felt the family vibe big time, so happy to have such bad ass folks in my life. Wooooo Ahhhhhh!! C you all at Gil! Dance team slots are available, enquire upon arrival!

Peace,
Erik
