, yes Vegetal, I did. I forgot that here at home (LE) did not have ADC, however in the workstudio (HD) it does... Guess I was fast enough. No but seriously, this Auto time adjuster ought to help with that. Yes, it is not perfect, I sure hope they do address that in PT8.

For all that are curious as to how midi did get changed in PT 7 and up I suggest downloading a trial version of Digidesigns Transfuser. While it is far from being perfect it is nevertheless a progress made...

I've heard that ADC don't come on LE and MP cause the circuitry responsible of delay compensation is inside the motorola's DSP on HD systems and they don't want decompile and recompile the sotftware for this pourpose only, it's not convenient for digidesign.
I've never had latency problems the main issue ist's fuckin few tracks 4 me,,

A little bit off topic now , but let's talk about latency..
For external dsp (ie duende, uad, liquid mix, powercore) will have 1024 samples for every plugin instance ,
as far as i know RTAS don't cause latency , i've tryied some time ago to open 8 inserts and command+click on the display bottm of the track and says dly=0
Am i wrong? do you know if RTAS cause latency?

RTAS (Real Time Audio suite) actually processes your audio in real time.

In TDM you will have to measure the actual delay created and nudge the track forward in time to compensate or use delay compensation.

This should not be a problem with Rtas plugins as to my knowledge there is no delay with Rtas plugins, except maybe the buffer in your playback engine. When you record you can always reduce the buffer size, it would not matter with Rtas plugins. Definitely with TDM though, of that I am sure...

RTAS itself doesn't cause latency but the plugins can.
Some plugins need large buffers (linear phase EQs or multiband compressors/limiters, convolution based effects etc).

Hey guys,

I work in protools for audio post and sound design,
so I've decided to use it for music production (with Reason rewired) as well.
I can say that once you get the keyboard shortcuts down it's no problem to produce in PT (for me).
I love the A.I.R. plugs (Hybrid rocks imo) and they're really stable.
Transfuser is also looking great for psy production.

With PT 8 it looks like they've added even more features to encourage people to look at PT for production.

I gotta say though I'm not fond of DIGI prices at all.
To enable timecode and OMF capability I had to buy DV toolkit (700 bucks after student discount!!!) even though all that just comes in Logic's package for way less money!
And still no 5.1!!!

To get cheap delay compensation in LE:
http://audioproductionblog.com/2008/08/auto-time-adjuster-by-mellowmuse-protools-le-plugin/
Some stuff to consider about this plugin:
-It does work wonderfully, once you understand it.
-The price is ridiculously Cheap! $29.00 till September 1st ($49.00 after)
-They promise free upgrades for life. They’re working on the next upgrade right now.
-You can chat directly with the developers in their forums.
-Before clicking the Ping button to correct th delay, you have to deactivate all sends, mutes and solos. (the only pain)
-I recommend you check the fully working demo before buying, to see if it suits your setup.
-You need Fxpansion’s VST to RTAS adapter, but you get a discount when you buy this plugin too.
-This plugin eases your workflow when mixing. You wouldnt wanna use it while recording.

-------

I myself will wait to upgrade to 8 until I'm sure I will keep all plugs and stuff, also because I'll have to upgrade my OS, but yeah, I'm really excited to eventually mix tracks in 5.1 at home...!!!

I use Pro Tools for music mixing and post production, definitely the best as far as mixing is concerned. PT 8 LE will have 5.1 capability with the Neyrink 5.1 mix plugin (fully supported in PT8 and I wonder if they got that bug fixed that did not let you use shortcuts for changing from Waveform to automation parameters once you have mix 5.1 loaded).

As far as shortcuts are concerned no software beats PT!

Apparently you can get the mbox 2 micro for only little more than the PT8 upgrade. Trying to find out about it as we speak and will keep you updated! Might be a deal!           Upavas - Here And Now (Sangoma Rec.) new EP out Oct.29th, get it here:
