I've seen a lot of DJs use Apple PowerBooks to gigs. What format are their tracks, what software do most of them use? Also, what are the issues against those who use CDs. |

No need to be rude Azaad_500.
DJ's use laptops too. Ever heard of NI Tracktor, amongst other DJ progs? Unfortunetely, 'a lot' use MP3s. 'Some' may have ripped the track as wave, and mix that too. |

Well, kind of off topic but..
You can't deny that some people don't even know what a producer is, and actually think that the Dj is making music in real time.
In trance not that much, but ask a typical housy cluby guy and he probably wont have a clue. |

As people can (still) only buy CDs and their quality is 44KHz 16bit, the maximum quality in a Laptop is the same, with the WAV format or another lossless format, ripping the CD.
The best software for me for Djing using a laptop is Native Instruments Traktor, you may have eard about it already. Sync, wave view and a LOT more.
With a good laptop and midi controller you can have all functions in top CD players and mixers, and maybe more, for a lot less money
Hope it helps
