I'm curious to see how one would create a formant filter (vowel sounding filter) I think I read somewhere about it being related to multiple resonant bandpass filters, but I can't seem to figure that out... Anyone got any good ideas on how to do this from scratch? I can just download a freeware formant filter, but I would love to see how I could do it myself.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Hi I found a small tutorial in the Alchemy Manual.So...
I understand it like this.A vowel filter means morphing between the Vowels A, E, I, O, and U.To create a vowel you need three bandpassfilter for one Vowel to boost the frequencies which creates the typical sound of one Vowel...

‘Ah’
Cutoff 1 = 800 Hz, Res 1 = 100%
Cutoff 2 = 1200 Hz, Res 2 = 100%
Cutoff 3 = 2800 Hz, Res 3 = 100%

‘Ee’
Cutoff 1 = 230 Hz, Res 1 = 100%
Cutoff 2 = 2600 Hz, Res 2 = 75%
Cutoff 3 = 3200 Hz, Res 3 = 75%

‘Oo’
Cutoff 1 = 200 Hz, Res 1 = 100%
Cutoff 2 = 880 Hz, Res 2 = 65%
Cutoff 3 = 2400 Hz, Res 3 = 50%

‘Eh’
Cutoff 1 = 530 Hz, Res 1 = 65%
Cutoff 2 = 1850Hz, Res 2 = 75%
Cutoff 3 = 2500Hz, Res 3 = 50%

i make this one for a few minutes(two square(Ah,Ee)and two saw(Oo,Eh)_3Bp per Osc..slow LFO on fine-tune)

as Mesca said... I've never tried but you could set a group of bandpass filters for the specified frequencies

I guess it would take time to get it right

Check out the vocal filters on Gladiator vsti. They visually show what is hapenning, really cool. I guess you could reproduce them like that. Good question & nice post from mesca! Will try those settings!

I bet antares filter is a good one to recreate those filters yourself.           http://www.soundcloud.com/bandarlog

You can also see the formant-filters in Battery 3, as they show how.

I do a similar thing in Live with two auto filters>compressor grouped and using macro controls.           You believe in the users?
Yeah, sure. If I don't have a user, then who wrote me?
