Hello people!
I would like also to hear what people here use, not for leads and bass lines, since we all know already the XYZ synths and methods out there are over discussed, I'm talking about mixing, effects, crazy sounds, special FX, and other stuff, not only tools but techniques... like beat repeat, boom kick... tools like DBlue Glitch, Sugar Bites Efectrix or Tornado, etc etc etc... you know what I mean??
Let discuss!

I like to record random sounds, and then use them for stabs. Stand out in the middle of somewhere busy with a decent handheld mic and record a good couple of minutes. Then sift through your recording and find any interesting sounds which you can select and isolate.

From there, you can pretty much destroy the sample a million ways. To me, good sound effects in psy don't sound like anything, they sound like nothing you've ever heard which makes them surreal and psychedelic.

tryptonal,

I do the same, and that's true, creativity has no limits when we are manipulating samples.
I like to do that with samples that can be used to pass a message. After some effects making it sound something totally different, the original message is still there, and as incredible as it seems, it always gets through people in a subliminal way, it goes straight to the subconsciousness.
Powerful tool eh?           A psychedelic experience is like cheating on the blockages placed in our minds that are limiting the way we perceive reality!

Yes !

Right up my alley

Love using all kinds of fx in music, wheather it be VST effects or Sampled FX or both

there are so many FX out there we probably don't even know about, i mean looking at the sound designing in the movie Transformer, that should tell you that there is more than meets the eye indeed

Found sounds can be much useful in any music, i like when i see them in sample libraries because these i would most likely find more useful than say the overused sweeps and noises and such from synths

But yes i am glad someone started this here

Nice to know there are many into the fx side of the music

How do you guys here make the boom?
I usually do it with a mirrored kick sample, with some gain and effects... any other techniques?           A psychedelic experience is like cheating on the blockages placed in our minds that are limiting the way we perceive reality!
