It's time to move on to the next step in the psychedelic revolution. We've reached a certain point, but we're not moving any more.

Personally I often visualize certain colors wiht the music... WHen I first heard Derango, long ago, I thought of browns and greens, and lots of damp places... Which of course could mean the forest! Its not a matter of labels, IMO, but a matter of atmosphere.
Derango did a great job twisting heads in the desert outside LA, so its not forest only, thats for sure!

FOrest trance, to me, is lush, almost 'wet' sounding trance, full of strange noises. Often it has a similar bassline to what people call 'dark'. What really distinguishes Forest trance to me, is the complete bonkers-ness of it! Its not really 'riffy' (like, a noticable riff that its built upon), and often has freaky changes, new basslines thrown in, sometimes even new kick drums. TONS of different sounds layered over and within one another create an atmosphere that I can only describe as 'foresty'...

Well, music made from forestlike sounds Loads of organic swirling, fractalising trees and twisted animalsounds...
Uhh, and crisp DMT-like electric sounds tweaking your brain
No technokeyboard-sounds, no synthesizer presettings used, no singing and NO guitar
Labels I put in my own foreststylecategory is eg Parvati, Sanaton and Yggdrasil. |

Check out the artists that mk47 mentioned, and I think you'll understand what I mean.
Wizack Twizack isn't really forest, but has been described as 'foresty'. Though, Id put his work in with such artists as Dark Nebula and the like.

I think mudpeople had a pretty good interpretation in his first reply!
For me (and as how I have understood it) its not about music that is nice to play in a forest (cus a lot music are ) its more what can bring you to that magic forest that grows in your mind! Well thats how it affects me! And yes it feels kinda wet ??! And a lot weird elfs-people live there and they play weird elusive melodies
