more about the term forest:
the origins for the term forest trance
is older than than music of derango, sanaton records crew etc. i'd say they are the 2nd generation of forest trance bringing a higher bpm to it an that "rrrrooolling bass line" also called duggaduggaduggadugga
to me atleast forest trance was the twisted offspring of the late 90's psy trance. prime examples of 1st generation forest trance:
-little blue men (lbm)
-old logic bomb material
-weirdo beardo
-huxflux
-early ka-sol
-early texas faggott
-(and dare i add) haltya's first album
forest flavour
etc.
check out the notorious spirit zone comp "tales from the forest" and you'll know what i'm talking about:

if forest is a style, a subgenre or an identification than i wont listen to music anymore
forest trance is more likely the surrounding, dennis took a very good example (totally coincidence), WOODS, sometimes the bass sounds like a beated up wood (some nature freaks might get what im sayin here), owl echoes or even small raptiles moving on the earth . . . >
forest (nature) is 100% unpredictable, so is forest trance, i mean, listen to The Poisonous Square (derango) and ull see what i mean

Man, i think what full_on meant is - just don't confuse yourself with extra 'definitons'. Main thing is your music make you smile & dance!
Personalley, first time i chance upon this term 'forest trance'. Alltough Forest sounds familiar from somewhree

ok TDR, i agree with u and full_on, of course..
but its not a matter of putting artists in boxes, "cathegoryzing", or putting as a "style" or subgenre. We all know music is music, and thats not the topic.
its just a question, about what is a "forest trance" touch, or inspiration, or whatever
maybe i have expressed myself wrong (sorry my english) but my intention was to focus on the "music" side, to avoid posts like "oh, i like to hear Antix in the forest"... and more about this insane influence coming mainly from some scandinavian forests
(funny definnitions..."wet", organic, free-form, wood)
Outolinto.. great tunes! all the best
Thnx the replies mates |
