Greetings everyone!!!
I am trance music lover for past 10 years and have been listening to all types...over the past few years I have delved deeply into the darker side of the music...I feel this is definitley where the underground has gone too and think the music being created is much more innovative, spiritual, and uplifting than the fluff...Liquidzzzz sounds rockzzz!!!! However a great powerful pyschedelic morning dj set in the sun brings a smile to everyones face...recently or maybe over the past 2 years my friends have been telling me over and over to listen to forest style trance...mostly music made by Sanaton records saying they are the preeminent label in this genre...I have recently been listening over and over to music by SSSanaton and am still confused why people love it so much??? What is it that draws people to this music? Do people feel this is where the new underground of psychedelic sounds lies? Is pushing the boundary on the audio frontier? I enjoy most of the stuff by Sanaton but do not really feel a deep connection to it yet...I like the fact that there is a continual change of soundz but end up of feeling a bit confused at the end of each track....Maybe others opinions will help me views these soundz in a different light?
Comments appreciated!!!

Its called taste. One man's dirt is another man's treasure and vise versa. I am into dark psychedelic music but I am not into this whole dark psy that is the "cool" thing in these blue pages.

^ true that , but I suggest you give the new procs album a listen just to see what they mean when they say `forest music` , not the usual kiddy fast random bleeps and squeaks that people associate with so called `dark` music .

and in case it still give u ear bleed , turn in off and do what u do

somewherre on these pages theres a topic that says wannabe kids want to indulge in complex music , to feel cool.
Add to that , this thread and wat u get is a simple idea - Dark psytrance is made to be cool.
Cos thy make it so complex it has ntn musical in it other than the 4/4 percussion ( andtherunninbass is not really musical alone... )
Well so ye cool ppl complex music psytrance is dead.
Tho i firmly believe that threres a fine line of new killer psychedelic being made. Imho, osom music is the reall computer music and vertigo re done is the new psychedelic music. |

it's as the name says forest, to be listened in the forests, i am also about 10 years into trance music and one of the most psychedelic expirencies i had it was in the nature with this kind of music.
one more recommendation try Yggdrasil rec. the VA Yggdrasounds.
btw. Axis u can not generalise like that, there are people with different tatstes and perceptions and as i know many who likes this kind of sound has nothing to do beiing cool or whatever, according to your statement you look like a kid

Anyhow as the name suggests, for me, Bamboo Forest = Forest music...for a forest that just happens to have a lot of bamboos I suppose

If your looking for full power psychedelic morning music for party scenarios, Sanaton probably isn't your best bet. For me, stuff like Sanaton is best to chill out to at home with a spliff and some headphones. A lot of the Sanaton acts are inspired by chill out acts and it reflects in their music. I love it because it stimulates my mind.
Given the correct circumstances if you know what i mean, this music can really blow you very far out even in a party situation. I learnt this when i got to hear Derango live last year. It was absolutely mind boggling and they were almost controlling the dance floor like a puppet show. The look in peoples eyes and the smiles were unforgettable. Was a special experience
The music is complex and the sounds are definitely not random. It may take a few listens under some altered states but once you start noticing those patterns, they don't stop coming. I don't know how far they are pushing the boundaries in terms of sound quality but in the creativity frontier they sure as hell created quite a cult. I personally Love this stuff

Well, Forest music to me is not only Sanaton or Scandinavian style. For sure they have a certain definition of it, but u can always attach other styles/countries/artists to this term too.

Exactly, it's well spread all around the world nowdays, but I think it's not supposed to be a strict definition of what a psychedelic track should be called, this term is often used just to describe someone's music, it's a kinda mood that you get throught these tracks, somekind of forest presence, nature's calling, mind-altering connection with the Earth and the whole nature in it...
Although these kind of tracks played in the woods are really something special and I think from there is the name and the term itself....
I find a lot of connections with this forest-vibes in the tracks from artist like Atriohm, Encephalopaticys, Onkel Dunkel, Jahbo - whole Parvati crew, Sanaton and Yggdrasil artists, Stoneage artists also, Drury Nevil from Greece, Zik also makes some really deep-trippy darky forest stuff too... Then Gidra from India, lotz of forest vibes in all the Schlabbaduerst rekkords releases, Attoya, Evsy, Distorted Goblin, Shotu, Whrikk, I think the duo from Trold have some liquid melodic stuff with a touch of forest feeling in their tracks, Uminum and all the ResonantEarth artist, maybe Kluster from Australia also, some Zolod's stuffs...
You can find this feeling everywhere ONLY IF YOU LIKE TO FIND, it's not hard, listen and enjoy, let the music speaks for itself... |

I love the forest stuff. It took me a while and the right circumstances to get into it, but now it's the only real subgenre in trance that allows me to really go on a journey while listening/dancing. |
