If your given promo's even though your not signed to that label .would you call yourself a label Dj .. or even be given that Tag ...
I've been given material from labels in the past which i was lucky to get , But i for one wouldn't see myself as there Label dj or even allow myself to be advertised as such if that were to happen i would look upon that as dishonesty ..

I've always been very suspicious of the whole "label DJ" thing anyway. Fair enough if you're an artist/producer who releases on a particular label - but other wise whats the point? |

imo
label dj =
1.dj who is signed on a particular label and promotes teh music released by that label
2. in some cases also who compiles albums for them
Its all about the vibe.... |

Call me old fashioned - but whatever happened to DJs playing tunes that'd rock a dance floor - regardless of the label.. I cannot help but think that this sort of nepotism is part of the thing that has relagated DJs to well below "live" (ahem) acts in the scale of things...

The whole point of a label DJ is that the DJ promote upcoming releases by playing them out. The label DJ also promote the label name which is very valuable for the label.
Nobody is a label DJ unless the label asked the DJ to represent them.
Label DJ's is not something new. There's been label DJ's representing and promoting labels for many many years going all the way back to the start of Rock'n'Roll.
