Nice! Thanks for the tips. I used to listen to dnb around 1996 when I lived in Brighton at the peak of dnb and remember Zap club, where I went a couple of times with lots of good sets.
Im just getting into dnb again, makes for a nice change.
I bought some tunes today and am trying to make a mix..its actually pretty fun, I thought the bpms would be really strange (Im a dnb noob) but they are suprisingly consitant. I also bought one of the tracks you recomended:
Usual Suspects - Killa Bees
And some Vampire records.. |

Yeah Killa Bees is a classic track, though if you've heard the interviews they said it was the most basic track they ever made regarding studio technique.
My all time fav is Konflict - Messiah. Possibly the best DnB tune in the history of the scene. The Spor remix of it's worth hunting down as well

indeed mixing dnb fills you up!
i started collecting stuff from last year mainly neuro style as i had some experience earlier from acts like ed rush & optical, skynet & stakka, black sun empire,noisia...
liked the style very much cause it seems kind of psychedelic to me,whith power and some great soundscapes, tricks and sounds that are sometimes very similar whith the ones that psy producers use...
also, best vocals in the electronic dance productions imo... |

if you like the old but new style of Ink then you should hunt down copies of:
http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Horsemen-Apocalypse/release/739927 & http://www.discogs.com/Various-Revelations/release/1460385
The track "Cyclone" off Apocalypse is just brilliant!
Also the "Babylon" compilation from Renegade Hardware has some great tunes, my only complaint about it is that the mastering was done at extremely high volumes and gives me a headache
If you enjoyed their "Last Of A Dying Breed" compilation from 2010 keep an eye out as one of my fav producers Raiden has an album due this year!!!

BUT if you want to hear how drum n' bass should be mixed then there really IMO is only one mix CD that lays it down hard, dirty, grimey and mashed up perfectly and it's http://www.discogs.com/Various-The-Four-Elements/release/114970
DJ Friction has gone off the rails a bit now but this completely blew me away when I first heard it and it still does!
The mix of tracks 4, 5 & 6 is just like an eargasm, and then he does it again with Keaton & Hive - "Plagues" into Dillinja - "Twist 'em Out".
The mastering is done perfectly, the track times are wrong but can't blame them as he just mashes all the tunes together to make a perfect mix!
