I just wanted to know, when you guys travel and have all your gear with you at the party's while your in another country, where do you put your equipment and laptop after and before your set.

Since it's hard to trust alot of people and promoters in this scene, because people steal.

Do you demand to have a special place for it ?

how do you make sure of all this.

I hate being stuck with my bag with my laptop in it on my shoulder the whole night.

Maybe im lucky or something but i have never lost anything and i´ve been to Russia ,Mexico during those times i remember we stashed our stuff in a car, during my stay in mexico i just made sure i was close to my equipment all the time or as you said kept the laptop on my shoulders.

Edit: i bought a rifle-case in texas with a lock to secure my synth thou, maybe thats an idea

I have an arrangement with my mannager which states that it is required of the host to provide a room or car that can be locked, and be able to store my equipment.           www.xun.dk / myspace.com/xundk

Nowadays I'm very happy to have really cheap setup, so I don't have to feel too stressed out, and I usually have just been sticking my bags in the trunk of a car or under the DJ box.

Sure...even if it's less than €600 to replace the whole setup, having it stolen would suck...but before when I had kit worth more than €6000 it would really been a catastrophe.

I would not like to limit myself too much just to have cheap kit, but in actuality I ended up with cheap equipment because when looking at the available options I settled on the combination of a BCR2000, A4Tech X7 G100 and Indigo DJ because they best fitted my bill for the ultimate setup....that they where dirt cheap just turned out to be an added bonus.
And I don't need a very powerful laptop since I like to keep the set fairly simple to ensure stability anyway, so I just got one very cheap s/h (actually it was free because of a messup from the transport company, but it should have cost €350).

Having cheap gear does not only reduce the stress and the damage done if it gets stolen, but of course makes your kit a lot less attractive to the thiefs as well.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

During a set, my bag that was about three feet to the left of me - right behind the one speaker - disappeared.

Luckily my CD wallet and headphones were on the desk, but my girlfriend's hoody and two of my college note books that were in the bag are gone. :/

We'll have a safe place for your stuff when you come to Iowa, no worries

I'd have one of the orgs lock it in their car, that'd be the safest place.          http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

kaossilator in my pocket ftw and cd case
so dont call it full live whatever. atleast i can control the order of tracks and add new channel on it , as well playing unr remixes so its all new to the audience.. if productions (or crowd) would really care they could pay extra flight ticket and i would get drummer on stage with me (as if they bother to get drums or make sound check etc)
