And beware of what you put on soundcloud. If you have a label that you are interested in, send it to them first. Some labels are not keen to release material that has been posted on soundcloud at all.
I will not say if its stupid or not, but some labels do not like the advent of soundcloud as a lot of poeple get to hear a lot of music on there nowdays...they want to keep some music well out of reach of anyone besides the creator and the label people until it is released.
...and besides, its good to keep some tunes only for your sets, until they get released.
As a newcomer tho, I would say the more music you post, the better. Its good to keep a consistent output. People can see you are serious about music making.
Peace out.

Thanks Ive been wondering this. I think its best to keep files private until you reach a label too. Do things the right way.

I agree, but maintain a certain level of quality with what you release.

I think that if someone is so stupid to rip 128kb mp3 tracks and play them in a DJ set he is just mudding his "artist" name, that quality is not live playable AT ALL. Thats why listeners should know more about quality sound so they´ll notice and throw hard objects to the pseudo-artist. In the other side, if I ever find someone uses my tracks to say theyre his/hers, we have a real problem then.
