you do and you know it.. everybody does one way or another... and if someone did rip it and use it u must be proud that they like it and made the effort do add it in their set.
it was a 128mp3 so not much they can do with it.
its promotion for you.. embrace it! and next time dont add full tracks on soundcloud.

Copyright infringement is not stealing, it is copyright infringement. You have been taught to say "stealing" by the RIAA. Stop it. |

A ripped 128mp3 is promotion for the artist? I upload tracks to my soundcloud that I plan on editing later so I wouldn't be too happy if someone played those tracks as I don't consider them to represent my current work.
Stealing is stealing, but this is like stealing a snickers bar, wiping it on your ass, then telling someone to try it and base their decision about the candy on that one item. Sure would be a lot less people eating snickers if this is how they were introduced to em.

Like Orange said, put short samples of tracks or full versions with fade in/out, protect your material.
If you wanna release track why are you putting it on public, make private if you wanna send it to some labels.
Make short samples of whole album in one track for promotion and that's it.
If your track is in someone set(128 mp3) send him full version, he promote you
Sad thing is if your track is renamed and promote with other person name....that's stealing...

And beware of what you put on soundcloud. If you have a label that you are interested in, send it to them first. Some labels are not keen to release material that has been posted on soundcloud at all.
I will not say if its stupid or not, but some labels do not like the advent of soundcloud as a lot of poeple get to hear a lot of music on there nowdays...they want to keep some music well out of reach of anyone besides the creator and the label people until it is released.
...and besides, its good to keep some tunes only for your sets, until they get released.
As a newcomer tho, I would say the more music you post, the better. Its good to keep a consistent output. People can see you are serious about music making.
Peace out.
