I see many posts about :"what synth have X used in the track X - xxxxxxx".
What kick, what bass, what blalalbala.
I'm sure that those kind of questions do not lead to anything. Its not the car, its the driver. You can have any software and VST and synths and everything, but withought the ability you cannot make the "perfect" sound you want.
You shouldnt ask "what synth". The question that you should ask instead is this - How do I do it? The answer is - writing music, learning from manuals, people, hearing, basicly from everything you can get.
Don't ask how to do it, just....DO IT!
remember, the most important in music is not the sequencer you use, not the synths, the most important is the COMPOSER!
and sorry for my bad english

I think it's okay to know how some sound is build and why it sounds like it sounds. It's a great way to learn how synthesis works.
The same happens everywhere. Literature, movies, games, all other art forms... everybody is copying everybody, in a way or another. Many times subconsciuosly. The thing is to take something that has been done well, and then you experiment and take it to the next level... dropping things you don't like and adding things you love. |

well I dont quite agree with your point. By asking a specific question and getting an answer actually saves your time and puts you on the right way. Then after you get more and more experience you take it even more further. |

Absolutely true. There are so many decent synths out there that if you pick a few of them, only your skills and creativity are the limit to what you can achieve. And the goal shouldn't be uniformity but diversity.
But of course it's ok that newbies ask what synths are good because they don't know that. It's reasonable to get advice from others. |

It's definatelly the driver. What synths you use matters only if you use presets. But then that's not very creative, is it?

There´s a world of synths, sometimes is good to know where to look for, although most synths are analog modelled the sound is different, i have spent hours on certain synth without good result, later try on another one and volia!!!! the sound i wanted comes. They all have different textures and maybe the texture ur looking for is in certain device. |

i think what you're saying is right but try making the same sound in vanguard and in albino (example). i doubt you'll make something similar. unless you only use the basics of the synth... each synth has it's own unique feautures. like cars |
