Hey guys,

I'm in the market for a small portable audio interface, and the focusrite scarlett recently caught my eye.

http://www.focusrite.com/products/audio_interfaces/scarlett_8i6/

Any comments on this one? Anyone tried it? It seems to have everything I need. My current laptop only has USB, which is one of the main reasons I'm interested in the scarlett. So far I've read nothing but good reviews on it. It is, of course, in the lower end of the market, but for playing live gigs and for mobile studio recording, it seems like a nice little swiss army knife.

I guess what I'm getting at is I'd like to hear if anybody has a good reason for me NOT to get this one but some other interface instead?

Thanks guys! You rock           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com

Hey man.

I havent used the scarlett but I would like to take this opportunity to write about a really bad experience Im having with Focusrite as we speak.

I just got the Saffire Pro 14 and after setting it up to my disappointment i realised the headphone output was not working properly. There was no audio from the right side. After shaking it around it got ok but then again it goes away. I mailed the support team and after asking a few questions they tell me its a hardware fault (no shit) and that I should take it back to the dealer for repairs under warranty.

The dealer (in NYC) says its not his responsibility and that I should take it to the manufacturer.

Now, I live in India so obviously there is not much I can do without considerable expense and efforts.

Since then Focusrite has stopped replying to my mails, they are not taking phone calls and basically have washed their hands off completely.

So if your looking for faulty products and poor customer service then go for Focusrite.

Fine these things happen at times there maybe people here who have never had problems with Focusrite but the least you expect is fair customer service.

Just a warning from a pissed off consumer.           StarLab - Label DJ/Artist for Digital Om Productions

Bummer! Sorry to hear about your bad experience with focusrite. I hope you manage to sort it out somehow. I'm planning on buying mine from a well established dealer here in Copenhagen. I have plenty of good experience with them so I'm not worried about anything with warranty as they've always been excellent in the past...

And yes, I agree Pixan, looks very sweet! (for the price ) I plan on picking it up on monday, so I'll let you guys know what I think...

I went ahead and bought the interface last monday and had it out for a gig this weekend. So far I'm very happy with it. The mixControl program that comes with it is very handy once you work out how it all fits together. The plugin suite also seems very capable, although I've yet to really experiment with it.

The interface itself feels very solid and has worked without any problems so far.

Thumbs up from here, in case anyone else is in the market for such an interface           www.soundcloud.com/vonoom | www.vonoom.bandcamp.com | www.facebook.com/vonoom | www.flikflakfamily.com
