Hehe that's my favorite synthesis learning tool, and my "go to" synth whenever I want to design something from scratch. I just feel it could have a more powerful filter curve generator (to design the filter curve like you design the harmonics in the oscillator wave, or something like the fabfilter's volcano), and definitely more LFO's (and / or a modulation matrix for them - but then you can do this with MAX)

For better learning results, take advantage of visual cues to aid your ears (more information can only be better), so use something like Ableton's spectrum visualizer and smexoscope at the end of your chain to see the resulting sample wave and understand what's actually happening.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

your a person grown from the same tree knocs. I appreciate the tips! I can luckily say I am on it, as it was mainly the understanding of each algorithm (besides finally understanding how sampling rate affects the sidebands) that inspired me. I have never had a full walk through of fm like this, only what I learned through analyzing and t&e.

I love using fm8 also and now know how to setup these same algorithms in it. I do really wish they would expand on operator that would be a treat. Add a more detailed mod matrix and two more lfo's and were golden. I dislike having to use max for the lfo's for a simple task, it just really seems to kill my workflow and cpu in the long run if I don't bounce a lot.

p.s. a pure mod env. would be great
