The collaboration between Texas faggot veteran Timo and Squaremeat's Pepe yeald another project called Flying Scorpions.
This one is another release in the continuing saga called "Suomisoundi" ('finnish sound'), which insists on staying away from everything that has been happening in the global trance scene.
Well, I got this CD as a gift from one of the composers, which makes it a bit hard to pass critisizm, but what can you do, when the finnish original sound I heard 5 years ago is exactly reproduced over and over again?
The old formula of "you need to take enough drugs to understand this music" is somewhat chewed and actualy starts to stink from old age, when its used as an excuse for low sound production, messy musical structure and general 'monkey on the keys' feeling you get from this album.

Sound production is traditionally flat, with the usual old 303 lead melody-like sounds. Structure? what is that? actualy, this is a good example of the chaos theory in practice - things look extremely chaotic and without order, but once you accomulate enough info, there is a pattern emergin - the same break structure, same sounds and ideas all over.

I guess that this particular sound has its own followers, and I don't come to pass judgment here, only to say - "I didnt get it".

Included here are 10 tracks, that give the overall feeling of "lets see if they can eat that one!" and "so you thought this was crazy, now try the next one!", "we are so far out, nobody can understand us" etc'...

Overall, fans of this particular school of thought will probably like it. I didn't

Tracklist:
1. Avari [Raivovajari Mix]
2. Diskosuper
3. Rave On!
4. Evil Hippie Sock Revenge
5. They Love Fucking You Up
6. We R the Hirvikarpaset
7. Flying Scorpions (All Over the Place)
8. Bush Attack
9. Victory of the Scorpions
10. Who Are They?
11 Equadoor
12 Let Us Free
13 Ruskababa 10 Years

Cheers,
A

Hehe. That crazy finnish sound. I haven't heard the whole album, only one or two tracks, and was quite impressed, actually. Then, again, I like Squaremeat.

cheers!

Album of the year for me thus far. Very accesible compared to the original projects of the creators and very melodic at times.

It is not so crazy imo...its very old skool goa-ish

One of the best ever. No doubt.
I know you don't get it, but I don't get Astrix, Sub6, Astral Projection or Visual Paradox. Flying Scorpions gets me rockin every time.

An always welcome collaboration between two finnish legends - Texas Faggot+Squaremeat is always welcome on my stereo

Keep it up, my mates in the far north
